Where's everyone going this year!

Started planning some of the years trips today. Nice way to pass a 22 degree day! Looks like Sanibel Island for spring break with the kids to start, LBI in NJ after school lets out, Assateague in Maryland in July , and two Capes , Cod then May, in August. Plus some spring weekend trips that we ll play by ear. So let's hear it, whattya got on tap.

We're talking about heading to San Diego, up the coast, cutting over to Sequoia NP, through central Oregon, back to the coast at around Astoria or Seaside, up to Washington, then over to northern Idaho and back down. We did a loop like this on the east coast in fall 2013. We'd probably be gone about 7 weeks or so. We also want to spend a month just setting up camp in four or five different areas of Wyoming and exploring each area. There's just too much to see and not nearly enough time!

We want to go to south Louisiana pretty soon, when this cool weather lifts. Have tickets to the April NASCAR Bristol TN. race. Then Richmond the next weekend. Depending on my post retirement part time job, I want to spend some time in the Smokies. Summer is undecided. Maybe get to the Rockies in late August/early September to avoid school kids and crowds. We need to hit more Texas state parks, probably this spring and fall.

Going to the back yard this weekend. Going to treat the carpets and pets aren't allowed exposure for 24 hours. Since they camp with us anyway, it's a good excuse to enjoy the trailer.

Where are you going down Cape Cod?

We have not put too much thought in to it yet. Weekends will be in New England as they mostly are. If we do a week out of New England, Cherry Hill, Hershey and Niagara Falls are on the list of possibilities. Locally, Old Orchard Beach, Cape Cod and the White Mountains are places we like to go.

Currently 3 degrees with a wind chill of -12. Good to be thinking of camping...

Currently at Cranfills Gap, TX. Supposed to get down to 19F tonight, so I winterized the SRX to be safe. Good timing...

Replacing throttle position sensor again (just did this before our trip) and trailer brake controller (w/Prodigy) tomorrow. Thankfully, my buddy has a shop with heat.

Come summer, we'll be leaving the hot desert sun in AZ and head back to our native state, Oregon. Plan to spend time on the coast, in the mountains and our ol' home town of Klamath Falls. Once the heat in AZ lets up we'll go back to Tucson and enjoy the winter sun.

Two possibilities at this point for our annual "big trip". If the weather remains bearable, we will delay departure until mid May, go south to St Louis, west to Denver, up to Steamboat Springs to check on some land we've got there, then head back toward Denver, up to Cheyenne, on up to the Badlands, then east through North Dakota to visit some friends, on into "Minnesoda" to visit more friends. That will be about 8 weeks of "Cougar living". Back home through the UP, stay here a week or so, then head through Ohio (daughter's family) and then over to North Carolina (son's family) and then back to Memphis to visit friends and back home to "FISH" for the rest of the summer. That's another 3-4 weeks of "Cougarzing things". Also, we'll probably do several week long trips around local lakes in the UP and northern Michigan. By then, it will be "hunting season again" and time to start getting stands and shooting lanes ready for the winter.

Of course, if the weather becomes "unbearably cold" all bets are off and as soon as we can get the pole barn door open, it's south Texas and the Gulf Coast until the snow melts. Who knows at this point where we'll be I'm sure glad Cougars have tires and are mobile. It sure makes changing our mind a lot easier !!!

I believe we are going to sit tight in Clewiston, Florida until April first, then on to Titusville for the beach for a month. By then it will be warm in Memphis and head home. Our big trip for the year will probably be Memphis to northern Wisconsin and on to Sturgis for about 10 days. If we have friends along then take them back to New Orleans and then home to Memphis.

As of now, San Antonio and the Grand Canyon. We are doing a major home remodel this summer that will cut into camping time, but if we can swing it we may head to northern WI to visit family and then to Canada for some fishing on Lake of the Woods. Maybe hit the NASCAR race in Phoenix this fall.

Savannah Georgia in the spring for a week . It looks like our standard beach vacation this summer won't happen so I suggested going somewhere warm, when we are waiting for the temps to rise here in Maryland. We have tickets for Asleep at the Wheel while we are there, then off to Charleston for a few days. At some point we will make a couple of trips to Virginia beach to see our daughter. Some othe 3-4 day trips as well, then finish it off in the late summer in south Hampton New Hampshire for my cousins pig roast. Apparently it's a 3 day party, park the trailer in the back field with others and have at it!!! Last but not least our Halloween camping trip which is local, then it's back to the driveway for the winter.

Our first run will be the eastern shore of Virginia in April and then multiple long weekends local, within two to three hour drives, in both western Virginia and North Carolina through June. July we are planning on heading up to the Finger Lakes area of New York to visit some family. Again multiple local trips until October till our annual week long Halloween trip to Natural Bridge Station Virginia. Should get out about 60 days this years.... Can't wait!!

Still working on the DW to snowbird next Jan-March.

Jlwright - We're from St. Louis, and way back in the late 60s when we were first married and tent camping, we would camp at Bull Shoals. It was one of our favorite places - beautiful. We haven't heard that name in 30 years! Brings back great memories.
