New to the game!!

Hello everyone,
We are new to the RV world but not the camping world. We went "Camper Camping" with some friends a few weeks ago and were hooked by the ease with which the camp was set up and functioning not to mention not sleeping on the ground and having heat. We bought a used travel trailer that lost a section of fiberglass on the way home from our first trip so thought we should trade it on a new Keystone Outback 330RL. We are towing with a GMC 2500 HD Duramax. I am very much a DIY guy so I am eager to get into the knowledge within the forums on what to look for and possibly prevent to keep the camping experience as trouble free as possible. I also have a fairly strong mechanical background so I hope I can give back a little too.

Looking forward to being a part of the group!!

To much time on YouTube LOL. It’s clearly missing a chunk of filon.

OP: welcome to the forum

Nice trade, enjoy.

I was thinking about slapping a dukes of hazard poster or something up on the side and no one would notice the damage. Probably made a good call on going to the outback.

Curious why lettikka’s second post didn’t change their post count to 2 ?

Don’t know why I wonder about trivial things but alas …(sigh)…I do

Now I should be at 3?? I get caught up in things like that too Jasin. Your signature has you running a Ram 3500. I currently have a GMC 2500 and a Ram 1500. One of them is going to get traded for a 1 ton tow/travel vehicle. How do you like the Ram? I have the blacked out Laramie and it is plush, rides like a dream and has all the creature comforts, not sure I am ready to give that up. I am curious on your thoughts about how yours tows?

I would have painted that missing Filon area with "I should have had someone hold my beer first."

It looks to me like the top was patched up from some damage on top. Possibly it was pulled into a branch or something. The front cap is waivy but I don't think it is damaged. Maybe water infiltration from the damage to the top. Someone could patch her up and keep her still but I think her days of running the roads are done.

I really wanted the 360 cameras, had that ordered. I also ordered the tow package and it cancelled the 360 cameras due to the tow mirrors not having cameras. I was bummed. I am seriously considering trading the 1500 up to the 3500 now that I am into this RV deal.

Yeah I was hesitant ( stubborn) on the whole dually thing but it’s proved to be a solid towing platform

Also maybe the mods considered your first ( or possibly second) post was not what we call “newsworthy” Possibly gave you an “incomplete assignment” on one or the other

Maybe you could spend some time tonight and jazz it up a little.. get some action pics of the damage occurring or possibly a YouTube video attachment of rv’s in dire predicaments ( always popular for some reason) …resubmit in the morning and I’m sure they will review

You seem like “ good people” so I trust they will set things straight

Lol seriously though…welcome to the forum

Welcome. Glad you are a DIY ! You definitely either need to be a good DIY or have lots of money and time to keep bringing your RV back to the dealer. You will get lots of help here!
