Ford VIN Specific Calculator

I saw this linked to on a Ford forum and hadn't seen it before so I thought it might be useful to Ford owner's looking into an RV purchase or upgrade. It covers the same 'weight police' info we post (payload limits, tongue/pin weight % etc.) but allows the truck owner to enter their VIN, which then populates the form with that truck's specific info. From that point you can then enter trailer weight, cargo weight, passengers etc. to see where you stand. It includes options to choose conventional, 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer along with sliding tongue/pin weight percentages for each.

Strange. It told me all about my truck and my weights/limits. Nothing I didn’t already know, but an interesting tool with the sliders and such for different percentages on tongue or pin weight.

Same for me.....VIN number entered but no icon to click for it to proceed with info about my truck. I tried the full 17 digit entry as well as just using the last 8 of the VIN.....same results....Nothing. Maybe it doesn't go back before 2017 or some other year. Mine is a 2016, so maybe that is the issue.

Looked at the original thread at https://www.f150forum.com/f129/ford-...497999/index4/ and it seems that some have issues depending on what browser/version they are using. Apparently the site does not work at all with IE and one user commented that they could get it to work via their iPhone (Safari browser) but not using Chrome or Firefox. I am able to get it to work with both Chrome (v 89.0.4389.90) and Edge, so who knows....

Just out of curiosity, can you post the last 8 of you VIN? I'll see what happens on my end as I haven't had issues. I know I was able to get a 2021 VIN that someone had issues with at f150forums.com to come up, but would like to see what happens with an older model.

In the VIN the digits 4 through 8 normally have a letter or number the maker assigns for wt. rating on pickups and chassis cabs.
If you have a decoding book it's easy to get the factory weight rating. Problem is each company is able to pick what they want to list the weight. For example Ford might use a 5 meaning 10,000 or below for xx year vehicles, Ram might use D to mean the same. When I looked that stuff up, it was not real easy or detailed. That could have changed by now. Old days was after all that work it said 10 to 12,000lb rating or something similar. We (I) used it as a test for new police to learn a means of finding out information on a VIN.
I think you can go to NICB web site, input your VIN and it might break it down listing the wt. rating from it. Not sure if that will work as a non police officer looking that stuff up.

I think xrated is right about the "year" issue. I have a 2017 DRW and it does not work for me. In the other responses, it looks like the newer trucks (e.g. 2020) work and the older ones don't...just a guess.

Yep....that seems right. Entered a several vehicles for sale on CarGurus and it works for 2018 and up.

I'm using the latest version of Chrome, so that may be it, but here are the last 8 of my VIN.... BEA83126

I tried with different VINs off Car Gurus and it seemed to work as soon as the 17 digit Vin was completed.

This tool is awesome for looking up payload for trucks on the dealer lot without having to go there or trust a salesman!

I believe trucks manufactured before some specific year will not work in this calculator. I tried Chrome, Edge and Firefox and none worked. Did it with VPN turned off and then tried in my android phone; no bueno.

It appears the tool is no more as the URL in the first post now resolves to the home page. The QuickLinks menu doesn't contain a calculator link that I can see.
