Extended Warranty to buy or not to buy?

We are picking up our new rv on Saturday 👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 We are considering purchasing an extended warranty, but not from the dealer! If you have an extended warranty, who is it with? Thanks 😉

If you want to give your money away (my opinion on RV extended warranty) then give it to a charity.lot's of charities out there that could put that money to good use and you may get a tax credit as well.

Take a number... say $50 a month.. put it in a savings account every month to use for repairs above the normal wear and tear... If you don't use it .... it will make a nice additional down payment on the next trailer..

I just used my warranty account for an additional $6000 on the new trailer...

Howdy Jacksonville! A kind wave from south of you a couple hours or so. If you are handy with common tools, can take care of repairs on your home, you can handle most repairs on your new camper. If you get stumped... you know where to go. Right here. Ask the question, post the pictures of the issue and you'll get al the help you need. We hope to be passing by JAX in a month or so for a long weekend somewhere cooler. I'll wave out the window as we pass by.

Hello Bryan, welcome aboard!

I'm sure and your DW are really excited on your new Avalanche!

I am with the above members--take that money you would spend on an extended warranty, and put it away for future repair and parts costs.

Take care and stay safe,

Gary

Read what most warranties include &/or require to be covered, usually an annual inspection by an "authorized person" that you'll have to pay for, they'll typically always find something else that's not covered that you'll also have to pay for.
Then just for fun read the usually longer list of what they don't cover!!!

There appears to be a Jacksonville TEXAS. East of Waco. Not expecting a storm surge here in Texas.

I just did a search to find out what company is best for extended warranties. I was thinking of purchasing one. After reading the comments I think I will keep my money and self insure.

I have mixed feelings about extended warranties. First travel trailer had the warranty and never used it. Sold the camper within 2 years of purchase. Lost on that one.

Second camper did not have the extended warranty. Never needed it. Normal warranty in the first year fixed everything. After than, had no more issues for another 7 years.

Third camper, got the extended warranty. In 5 years, never had to use it.

Fourth (fifth wheel), got the extended warranty. Used it twice now. But the actual cost of parts and labor still have not paid for the cost of the warranty. We've got 2 more years on this warranty. Time will tell. Personally, I hope we loose on this deal also, because taking the camper back for service warranty is is a real pain in the neck and the wait time for service is awful. (It takes weeks to get in). It's faster and easier to just fix things myself.

If this camper did not have the Lippert 6 point self-leveling jack system, I probably would have skipped. But the electronics on this camper is just too complicated for me now.
