TPO Roof Sealant

Hello. Could you tell me what you use for a lap sealant for the TPO roof? I have a 2015 Cougar 21RBSWE and I'm getting conflicting information. The owners manual says the the roof is an Alpha Systems TPO roof and only use Alpha products on the roof, with a further information link for Dicor. Huh???? My dealer says all they use is Dicor lap sealant. Dicor states that their lap sealant can cause cosmetic issues between roof manufactures.

Can anyone tell me if they have used the regular Dicor lap seal (not the Ultra) successfully without adverse effects??

Thanks

About one year ago, I called Alpha and they told me to use the regular Dicor lap sealant, but sparingly on the Alpha Systems TPO membrane to minimize membrane lift/swelling that would recede over time.

I went ahead with the regular Dicor lap sealant when installing a powered vent and touching up previous installed sealant and have had no problems. I suspect the factory also used the regular Dicor since the membrane near the sealant has a similar appearance.

BTW: A search should bring up another thread on the same topic from about one year ago.

Thanks Slow. Just what I was looking for. I also contacted Alpha Systems and they said the Dicor lap sealant is fine.

I did do a search and read through countless threads but none of them were exactly what I was looking for. I must have missed the one you were referring to.

Cheers

Hello,

I'm a bit confused. I have an Alpha system TPO roof. I want to buy the self levelling lap sealant for general maintenance.

I was originally going to get the alpha systems 1021 sealant, but have read that attracts dirt and in general Dicor seems to be the goto recommendation.

I thought the regular Dicor lap sealant is for EPDM roofs and the Dicor ultra seal is for TPO roofs.

Should I buy normal Dicor lap seal or Dicor ULTRA lap sealant?

Thanks.

you can use the Alpha sealant or The Dicor. both will work. I have personally used both.

Yes, it's confusing. Dicor says to use the Ultra Sealant. It very difficult to find at stores. In fact, Campingworld.com says it's no longer available.

Will this work: http://www.amazon.com/Dicor-501LST-1...ap+sealant+tan

Please be specific, general comments just add to the confusion.

Did you use the regular Dicor lap sealant, or the Dicor ULTRA lap sealant (blue tube)?

Specifically what alpha product have you used the alpha system 1021 product?

Is your roof EPDM or TPO?

I believe that is intended for EPDM roof, but I am looking to the experts on here for specifics...

I think TPO require ultra sealant (blue tube)

My Crossroads was TPO. That's the roof I used both on. Also at a factory rally for Montana, I spoke with Alpha and they said you can use Dicor products on their roof. TPO is a plastic material with rubber added for elasticity. Dicor self leveling lap sealant will stick to it.

We discussed which sealants were approved by DICOR for TPO and EPDM roof membranes just a couple of weeks ago.

Go to this thread: http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/showthread.php?t=24654

Post #6 has a link to the DICOR site that will explain everything you need to know.
