Slide seal folded in - New Avalanche

The seal on the vertical part of one of my slides stays folded in near the top, about 6 or 8" of it. I brought it to dealers attention and they were supposed to fix but did not. Should I just manually fix, pull the seal out? Or, should I have the dealer put in a new seal?

Your problem is not rare and may be fixed by spraying on some Aerospace303 Protectant. It helps lubricate the seals and keeps them flexible. The seal may be not be pliable enough to flex as the slide travels in and out. It may need a couple of applications and some "massaging".

If this doesn't work, the seal may be "out of alignment" causing the top portion not to unfold and may need to be realigned or replaced.

I'd try the Aerospace303 first and give it time to work itself in and for the seal to become flexible enough so that it folds/unfolds more easily.

The dealer may have tried to fix it but their fix wasn't that apparent or successful.

Good luck with the Aerospace.

The seal flips due to friction with the slide wall, sometimes the seal lube makes it worse, sometime it works. Put baby powder in on a old sock and work it into the fabric. Dust the seals with sock, add powder as necessary. It sometimes helps flip the seals, I think it makes the seals slick, but dries up any oils that are on the walls, that prevent the friction for flipping them. If this doesn't work. The next time you are by the dealer, get a expandable awning hook, it makes reaching up to the top of slide easy to flip manually. Hope this helps.

I have found that if I maintain my slide end walls with a coat of quality polish/wax the sides remain slippery and helps prevent this common problem.
Unless toy slide is misalignedor out of adjustment, there isn'tmuch they can do but pull out the seal and it will continue to fold inward until you treat the surfaces.
This is my experience anyway.

From our experience, Keystone will not fix it under warranty. It was one of the things I pointed out when I took ours in for warranty work in August. Keystone says it is isn't hurting anything, so is within tolerances, which is ok I guess. What I do is use a yardstick that I have in the camper to GENTLY flip out the seal. I slide it in under the seal and carefully work the "flip" out. There are little vertical plastic bars halfway down our slides to help the seals flip, they do the job all except the top corners, and I've debated adding a couple of those up higher for the places that don't flip.

I don't think I have ever had a slide that this was not a problem. I finally just used the awning hook and would pull it out when we stopped somewhere. More times than not I just didn't worry about it and left it. I think it is just one of those things that are not yet a state of the art thing. Just the way it is.

Here's something to maybe think about

I've had good luck (so far) with using the spray , Ice Wax , on the seals and lap sides

I first tried it on a small area to see how the rubber and fiberglass " liked " it
Seemed fine and so on it went

1 yr later , and still no binding of the seal

My big concern was :
would the wax affect the water tight sealing between the rubber and fiberglass?
But so far I've seen no issue with that

I have waxed the whole camper with this stuff now
hope it lasts a long time
