Battery/Lights

So now I'm confused. Went out the 5ver to roll up the awning (letting it dry out from rain) . So I open door and go to control panel to turn on lights so I can see what I;m doing, Hum, no lights. Oh well i grab the flashlight and hit the awning button to retract. Yes it had power and rolled up into a full closed position. ?? I went around to the battery control switch and yes it was in the off position. Is there a bypass somewhere I don't know about for certain things????

Our battery disconnect only shuts off the parasitic voltage drains. The landing gear, slides and awning still function with the factory installed battery disconnect in the off position.

That is why I installed a marine power shut off switch.

If you want to save your batteries, install a disconnect at the batteries..

I think the purpose of our OEM battery disconnect is to shut off those items that I call parasitic voltage drains (or items that are not manually controlled). The awning, slides and landing gear do not draw power unless they are being used/actuated. I agree that the only sure way to prevent ANY power draw is to disconnect the battery completely from the 12v circuitry; either by removing the battery cables or by a disconnect switch located at the batteries. Since our battery disconnect switch 'kills' the power to the parasitic drains, we are good to go. The other 12v items don't draw power unless we intentionally operate them.
