Gm phasing out diesel and gas
https://www.nbcnews.com/business/aut...gines-n1256055
I really feel like every day another part of American life is under assault
I guess they will phase out fifth wheels and rv parks as well

I woudnt get to fired up about this yet, they are always way over optimistic on the timeline these things roll out. Don't forget trucks and SUV's are the only thing they really make any money on. I am all for electric, if we have the power and range, especially the range, which is tough to do with lots of weight in tow and less aerodynamics. I also seriously question if this country can produce electric power to meet these kinds of demands. I am not against diesel, i love mine, love the rattle, the noise, the coolness. Open to alternatives too.

What's wrong with that? It looks big enough to hold a good size tent, two sleeping bags, and a s'mores kit!

Think of the article as a concept article, like the concept cars they show at car shows that never see the light of day. In the article they mention how Biden has committed to 650,000 electric vehicles, which government agency is going to complain about the vehicles? They won't complain about the price of them

The problem, at least the way I see it, is "committing ALL government vehicles to electrical power" is doomed to fail. The first time an ambulance "dims on an emergency run" or the first time the President's car "craps in front of Buckingham Palace" or the first time a HUMVEE has to call a "time out in Afghanistan (or our next area of interest) expecting the enemy to wait patiently while we recharge"...... Well, what's good for us likely won't be "good for everyone"....
I can't imagine "resting in a rest area" for 2 or 3 hours before I can finish my trip from Gaylord to Detroit.....
We shall see just how long those extension cords can really stretch.....

I have a feeling the electric vehicles will be for the masses and the rich and powerful will still have access to whatever they want.
Like how Mat Damon and other Hollywood types can tell us all to cut back on carbon emissions and stop being so wasteful and then he climbs into a private plane and jets all over the world to give these speeches

Are we sure the article wasn’t from The Onion? That’s would be about right.

I agree, but at least they're doing it in the right order. Not like "here's a health plan you're required to pay for, but we don't," "here's a retirement plan you're required to pay into, but we don't," "here's a gun restriction you're required to obey, but we don't."

Wasn't there some police force somewhere around the country that their local city council decided to get electric police vehicles, then when one of the police was chasing a suspect it ran out of electricity and had to stop?

Well all I can say is that they don't figure it out in another 14 years maybe the competition will. I'm, willing to bet there will still be commercial vehicles available that will be capable enough.

They will probably raise the taxes on diesel so no one can afford to keep there old trucks. Well I’m gonna enjoy the next few decades while I can.

Yep it’s a real shame. Will take a month to get to Florida with my electric Prius pickup truck (heavy half as good as a 3/4 ton ) pulling my popup camper stopping every 200 miles to charge batteries

It will be neat see all the farm tractors go green (not John Deere green) and the long haul truckers all carrying extension cords. Of course, once the USA is no longer an energy independent country (again), and we are experiencing sky-high fuel prices, it won't affect grocery prices or the price of other consumer goods which are transported over the highways.
