5th wheel hitch

I have had this hitch for 20 years used it on 4 different rv's
I have looked on the internet can't find anything about it
does anybody have one and do you think 20 years is it
time to change it out? the one thing I like about it is the
3/4 by 3" bar that goes across the front of the king pin.

Looks a lot like mine a DSP hitch from a company in Alberta

I also like the way the bar slides shut. Mine came with the truck when I bought it used, so my hitch is likely mid 90s vintage. Everything looks solid on it. Tows nice.

As long as all springs and latches are not worn or rusty, it should be good for another 20 years. My old Reese just turned 18 and I have no plans to replace it. As a matter of fact it will probably out last me. Travel safely, Hank

Thats what I like most about it the new ones don't have that.
When we brought our first 5ver in 1989 that is what they put
in and I have been taking it out and putting back in
each new truck we have brought

LarryL, Howdy;

One question;

Is it broke ?

I think you know the rest...

hankaye

PS. Just maintain it and check for wear.....

re:hitch

Hello Larry L,
Just a word of advice,looks like good old single rocker hitch. For a fifth wheel unit of your size, a double pivot rocker hitch is a lot easier on the trailer.Just be carefull of hitting potholes as the truck and trailer flex together with your type
of hitch.Also you can hitch up on any angle with double pivot.

Happy trailering, Blair.
