New Loredo Chucking

Recently took my new 266RL Loredo for a short drive & noticed some chucking, which I never had with my former Lite 28 ft. Sunnybrook. I'm pulling with an '07 Chevy 2500HD D/A equipped with a 16K Reese hitch.
Wondering if it's due to weight distribution since it's unloaded.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

Would you please define "noticed some chucking"

Might help with the accuracy of responces.

When accelerating or braking, I notice thumping sounds. I believe chucking is lateral & dolphining refers to up & down. I would guess this is chucking.

loud hitch noises

Oldfrog,
we had a 21ft prowler 5er prior to our 307RK mountaineer 5er and never heard anything from the hitch and now it when I stop and take off I hear all kinds of noise. I have checked everthing and all seems good so I would say just a heavy 5er that is pushing and pulling on the hitch more, thus the loud noises or chucking. I have a lube plate and keep the hitch itself very clean.

All in all for me I think hauling 3500-4000 lbs more is going to let me know its there.

Are you sure the "chucking" is coming from the hitch pin area? It may be that you have an elongated pinhole where the hitch connects to the bed rails or, as with the CURT hitches, where the actual box attaches to the legs. Just a thought...

What Reese hitch do you have? I have the pro series 16 k and the hitch does not capture the king ping very tight. Thus I have some forward and backward movement. Ususally you do not notice it unless you start or stop real hard and fast.

Once we replaced our Reese 16K hitch with a Curt Q20 hitch our chucking problems when away. Oldfamer is correct, the Reese doesn't not capture the pin tightly thus all the noise.

I have a Reese 16K Slider. When you switched to the Curt Q20, was it a big deal? Did you use the existing rails?

Thanks

All good points to my concern,BUT, since there is not that much weight difference between my loaded Sunnybrook & new unloaded Loredo, something has changed.
I haven't adjusted the brake controller yet so maybe that's a clue. So far I just back it off a bit from when the brakes grab.
Also, I do not accelerate or stop any differently...just like an old f**t, nice and easy!!!

Mor Ryde Pinbox

I had a simular problem with my 25 ft Hornet. It was realy bad on crossing the joints found on concrete highways. Not bad on asphault. I replaced the pin box with a Mor Ryde and it has made a big difference. Hardly know I'm towing..
