Axle swap

Our 2000 Keystone Cougar has had more wheel bearings installed than you could count. It has cost my dad countless days alongside the road awaiting parts. The last time was 4 days in Tonapah Nevada awaiting a new axle.
What we discovered was the early cougars were under-axled. 3500 axles are just not big enough for longer trips. It was finally figured out when dad was waiting for parts and a 2003-4 cougar stopped by with 6 bolt wheels; dads were 5 bolt.
Dad spent over 1000 dollars replacing the axle and hub, this thread will show you how reasonable a axle swap can be.
We ordered 2 5000 lb axles at 412. each.-- they arrive tomorrow
We have ordered the Dexter Axle ez flex kit, 190.00 with shipping (on special this month) http://www.dexteraxle.com/inc/sdetail/18096/28009
Wheels will arrive next week- will start snapping photos too.

Did you look into springs as well? 13 years and countless miles may have taken its toll on a leaf or two. JMHO.
