What Are You Pulling with 2008 F250HD C/C ?

I would welcome all opinions and info on what my F-250 HD 6.4D can and can't do. I sure don't know everything and that is for sure. Forgot to mention that I will be installing Helwigs and air bags to my truck to help things out. Am I still in trouble with what I would like to pull? Would like to hear from all and especially F-250HD C/C 4x4 6.4D owners on what they are pulling. Thanks neighbors!

Hello Oh Don:
There are two very extensive discussions about tow vehicles and what they can and can't do that have taken place just recently on the forum. Rather than repeat what has already been said (many times), I would recommend that you visit the Towing and Tow Vehicles section and browse through these threads:
a) "Truck Passing with Flying Colors", and
b) "Advantages and Disadvantages of towing with a 1/2 T and a 3/4 T."
Both of these threads are full of information that you will find helpful.

Also, please refer to your truck's owner's manual and look under the towing section, go to the Ford truck website and check for towing information about your truck there and try this website ..... www.trailerlife.com
Installing air bags and other helpers will not increase your towing capacity--- they will simply even out your two rigs and perhaps smooth the ride somewhat.

I am not putting off answering your question but I would just be repeating what has already been said earlier in other threads.
It might help if you were to have a fairly good idea of what you and your wife want or need in a trailer or 5th wheel....features, floor plan, size of family, etc.

Good luck in your research and search for an RV suited for safe towing with your Ford.

Don,

I'll join the others in welcoming you here. Your many years of experience are a welcome addition to the lively discussions that we have here.

We drooled over the Montanas for many, many years, but settled on our Cougar because off its unique floor plan. May you have many years of wonderful travels in yours.

Oh Don

Welcome Oh Don, as you can see we have a Montana Mountaineer that we haul with our 2008 CC F350 and love every minute of it. I am looking at adding the Firestone air bags sometime next spring to the truck. Good luck and Happy Camping!!

Don, With my 2008 F250 super duty 6.4 diesel, I pull the small Raptor Toyhauler. Even with my heavy toys in the garage, I'm well within the GCVWR, but right on or slightly over the GVWR, depending on how full the tank is. I upgraded it to heavier duty shocks and installed the rear air bags to keep it level when towing. I also changed my pinbox to an air ride. Tows great, I luv it.

When I'm using my much heavier teton 5'er, I have one of these for towing

Hi, I have an gold 2008 F250 and pull a 2012 Cougar 326 MKS. It touches 11,000 pounds and has nooo problem pulling this trailer. The suspension is stock as well as the brakes on both the trailer and truck. I have pulled several 5th wheels with it and found the heavier trailer pulls smoother. The ultra lite 5th was much more prone to chucking. Jay
