Removing Underbelly

OK, so who has done this? I have a, I presume, leaky black tank valve. After about a day it will fill the drain pipe up when I have the cap on. It's black tank because of the color of the water when I release the cap - messy. It' still under warranty, but that is, rounded off, 200 miles round trip. Or, can I remove it enough to reach in there and change it out?

haven't done it yet, but it's on my "round toit" list before 1st trip this spring... mine's done it since new and I keep putting it off... so far, I just know it's coming and have the hose positioned underneath the drain and remove the cap slowly and carefully.

Removing the old valve and replacing it with one that doesn't leak is the "preferred method" but until you can get "around to it", there is a twist on dump valve that replaces the cover cap at the end of the dump plumbing. You can purchase it, install it, close the valve and then install your cap on the other side of the new valve. The, you won't get any "suprises" when you remove the cap. You can find one of the twist on valves here:

http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...on-valve/27868

There are other types, some a bit cheaper, some a bit more expensive, but no matter what you choose, it prevents the leaks from spilling on the ground when you remove the cap. Even preventing one "poo shower" is good enough for me to invest......

I've got to ask, paraptor, what is the explanation for no side ladder or should I ask.

Bob, to answer your original question, I have removed my entire underbelly but I don't think that is necessary for changing your valve, but then I don't know if your RV is set up the same as mine. I think on mine, if I were to remove the underbelly in the vicinity of the valves that there would be enough room to reach in and remove it. One might have to cut the coroplast just enough to make it like a flap when opened, exposing the valve but then fold it back to the original position and screw in place. Good luck.

Probably should not, but since you asked No, did not loose my ladder NOT YET

Just a Thing I have with the ladder design on my Raptor (no folding ladder). Below is my thread

http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/sho...ghlight=ladder

Oh by the way, I liked John's suggestion on adding that end piece valve assembly. Nice thing to have around at around $20.00. Have you considered putting this on a temporary fix, wait until you accumulate a list of possibly other warranty issues and do all at once. Not sure when warranty runs out? I will follow your thread and see how it goes taking down the underbelly. After reading all these threads as to the surprises as to what is or is not under there temped to look in there

Be Safe and Happy Camping

Thank you BulletOwner, I ordered the quick fix until I get other items that need to be repaired, my warranty is up in September, so if something else comes up maybe I can reduce my 200 mile round trip to one instead of possibly more. Thanks for responding.

Sounds like you have plenty of time (September) to check over the rig and make a list of other things you want covered under warranty. Suggestion: what I did was take pictures of all warranty issues and sent them to the dealer so he could order any parts and also use the pictures to sent to Keystone warranty people. I would keep updating the list and keep sending it to the dealer. The idea is when you get there everything needed to address your warranty has been approved by Keystone and parts ordered. I chose not to make any fixes myself while in the warranty period, after that we are on our own.

Take Care
