CURT 51701 BetterWeigh Mobile Towing Scale

Had anyone in this forum tried the
CURT 51701 BetterWeigh Mobile Towing Scale?

The BetterWeigh mobile towing scale is a Bluetooth-enabled device that plugs into your vehicle’s OBD-II port, wirelessly pairs with your smartphone, and displays vehicle and trailer weights.

According to the AD, it weighs:
  1. Vehicle and trailer Cargo / payload
  2. Tongue weight
  3. Weight distribution
  4. Trailer brake gain

The BetterWeigh towing scale supposedly measures the gross combined weight of your vehicle and trailer, including the vehicle, cargo passengers and trailer.

I have a 2014 Ford Expedition EL.

Has anyone tried this and does it work, as stated?

I take it that no one has tried this device.

I wonder if it's just another gimmick.

Crickets.

Never heard of it. From what I can ascertain it's only as good as the information you put in it. I would still go to a cat scale to confirm your numbers.

Let us know how it works out if you purchase one.

I agree. I used it with my F150 and now with my F350. During setup you have the option of simply entering your VIN and letting it auto calibrate. I had very inconsistent weigh results using this setup method.

Highly recommend using the manual calibration method. It takes about 15 minutes of parking lot accelerations to complete, but weigh results are much more accurate.

Just a couple of reviews from Love your rv, there are a few others that have reviewed it on youtube.

I did think about it, then decided I would just CAT scale instead.
Good luck
