Haha! Should have known by looking at your screen name. That's like asking Mercury Man if he drives a Nova!

9.8 average on the last trip through Mid America this summer. 18.9 on the MPG indicator right now, and that's mostly around town with some interstate travel recently. Never (seldom) drive over 70 and always tow under 65.

2011 Dodge Ram 5.7 1500 towing a Sprinter 266RBS

Not towing 18MPG HWY, 14.5MPG City, (I got 21.5 out of it all highway once but I really babied it on that trip just to see)

Towing I average 10.3MPG at an Avg speed of 60 Miles. I can pull 11.4 out of it if I do not try to keep my speed on any hills and know it will drop into the 9s if I keep 60 miles on all hills.

One interesting note and it was too early to make a claim i my avg up top, I just added a set of Michelin MS x/2 tires E rated. My gas mileage on the last trip improved without the trailer in tow to 20MPG. I did not pay much attention to my driving but I really don't think I was soft on it but am going to pay more attention on the next trip. The sad part is I did 1000KM trip with the camper and I paid no attention at all to the fuel mileage or really even what I was putting in at the pump and it was my wife who noticed the Dodge computer fuel mileage reading which was reading lower and she asked if something was wrong.

These are actual reads, the computer lies. Solo: 16-19 around town 20-24 hwy. ... Towing: All on the same 1250mi. trip... total trip low of 12mpg (head winds and in a hurry that year) and a high of 16.8mpg (two days of rain with tail winds kept my speed way down) I find I get better mpg without cruise so I can anticipate upcoming hills. My biggest enemy with mileage seems to be headwinds and the weight of my right shoe. .....
Something about those little foreign cars with the loud mufflers causes a spasm in my right foot.

'12 Silverado Crew Cab - 6.2L gas.

Just measured on trip last weekend with less-than optimal trailer tire pressure (admittedly bad, I know).
  • Towing wet, with ~40% stop and go traffic - 8.1 MPG
  • Towing dry, with ~40% stop and go traffic - 8.5 MPG
  • Not towing (city - downtown Baltimore commute daily) - 12.5 MPG
  • Not towing (hwy - measured over 20+ miles of steady cruising) - 19.1 MPG
In all cases, except the daily commute the bed is loaded with gear and a full toolbox plus the family of four.

These are better MPG values than I got in the older 5.3L Suburban by about 1 MPG in all measured areas. Except highway, only once was I ever able to get 18 MPG. Usually it was closer to 14-15 MPG highway.
