Oregon Coast State Parks
I think we have stayed or looked at most Oregon Coast state parks and would be happy to provide some tips for anyone looking to make the trip.
We just returned from 3 weeks of great weather. I grew up spending much of our vacation time on the coast and don't remember too many days without wind. The climate has moderated from the 60's and 70's.
Oregon does such a good job with their parks. I am disappointed they had to cut back on the number of park rangers they used to have. Make your reservations online to ensure getting a place especially if you have a long trailer. Even when you think your spot is long enough, there are some camps that are a challenge for long trailers.
Sunset Bay outside of Coos Bay has tight circles with spots that will say they are long enough, however there isn't room enough to back in. It is a lovely place though. A short walk to the small beach of Sunset Bay, but many miles of walking trails with cliffside views of rocky coastline from the trail. We drove to the several overlooks and the botanical center. Spectacular scenery. Well worth staying there for a night or two, but get one of the spots at the entrance to the park or where roads converge on the circles for room to maneuver.
