This years new option
Down the road from us is a small convention center and every fall, except the last few years, Meyers RV has a show and sale. A sign that sales are slowing.
We are quite happy with our TT and it's paid for but we like to look and it's free.
Every year we talk about what option or feature is new.
One year it was fireplaces and the next year everybody had them.
Outdoor kitchens became all the rage.
And on and on.
This is the year of the really bad build quality.
Shower walls coming unstuck.
Missing and or broken moldings.
Interior doors that were warped or had missing or broken hardware.
Some of the worst caulking I have ever seen.
Popping screws and staples were rampant.
Really, this is a sales show. You would think, if no one else, the dealer would put in a little effort.

Covid or no Covid....I don't see the RV industry improving their quality anytime soon. It's seriously sad to see the lack of quality across the board. Not just Keystone. I think we will be keeping our 2019 for a long time.

It’s amazing what some dealers will put on display. Yes it’s bad that the manufacturer sends them the stuff they do, but a dealer should never let that be what the customer sees. When I was in sales we did a walk through every unit every Monday morning and put work orders to service to repair anything we found. I can’t tell you how many times customers commented on how nice the trailers looked compared to other dealers in the area. Right or wrong it gave them the impression of a better quality rv and I believe led to additional sales.

If the service department fixes everything and files for “found at PDI” warranty labor, then if that unit gets damaged at the show ( and it happens) then the dealership eats that “do over” repair.
One dealership I worked at, taped the toilet lids down.

But if I'm a potential buyer and I see a bathroom door with 1/4" gaps top and bottem and such a big gap in the middle that the latch will not close the door will I buy it?
A salesman may say the service dept will fix it but anyone who has been researching RV's has heard about quality problems and now they see the problems with their own eyes.
If I wanted an RV right now I'd look for a lightly used pre-COVID rig.
Maybe I'll stick with Best Western.

That’s why the dealership I worked at fixed them. Yes you get lit damage that the dealership has to eat, but in the long run it’s worth it for improved sales/customer satisfaction. At least that’s my opinion. Of course, I was the one that pushed the GM to take that approach. The GM and I have both retired and my understanding is the new blood isn’t fixing anything until a trailer sells. That’s a mistake if you ask me.

And if you research the dealer on Yelp/google you can find out who does take care of the issues. Precovid, 10 day show the dealership I worked at averaged 110 units at the show.
