Cable slide out hex nut keeper

on the first trip of our new 2022 passport 229 SL one of the long hex nuts came loose from the threaded cable end. The dealer, camping world of Bridgeport, NJ, put it back together. I asked about some sort of locking nuts to keep this from happening again and was told "no such thing". Has anyone done anything to lock the hex nuts in place to prevent them from backing off the cable?

Several years ago, the first time my cable slide went out of adjustment, after adjusting it, I simply grabbed a handful of 1/4-20 self locking nuts and added them onto the thread of the adjuster and locked it in place. I had two slides, so a total of 8 per slide or 16 total.

Thanks all. I'll go with the 1/4 20 nylock plan. I'm just surprised that they come from the keystone factory with no locking mechanism.

It's the same reason they don't use stainless steel screws - the price difference per unit of stainless vs. zinc coated (as well as other choices) would quickly move the price of these campers into the next quality level of campers.

Yea, my idea of a "locking nut" is NOT a piece of foam meant to stop the adjusting nut from turning.....call me picky if you must, but that's just me!..
