Do it yourselfers triple check

Had a guy in the shop today with a 2014 F150 super crew, tried to mount a gun safe in the back seat. It's going to cost about $1300 to replace the fuel tank he drilled through. Full tank also, that thing was freekin heavy.

If he'd had a longer bit the tank wouldn't have weighed near as much.....

SLOW DOWN AND THINK. Just like to old saying in construction, measure twice, cut once. To often people get excited and get in a hurry. Rushing to get the job done usually adds many hours to re-doing it.

We get one of those a month here at our dealership.

Someone putting in radio crap usually. Big speakers, amps, something.

They drill a hole in a fuel tank, drill through a brake line, drill through a fuel line, cut the wrong wire, splice into wrong thing.

Usually a Lincoln tech grad does himself at home.

Ahhhh! Just some Thumb Gum and a sheet metal screw and it's as good as new. Just use a longer screw when mounting the safe ... "Two birds, one screw".

I had a few good techs out of Lincoln Tech in New Jersey (I also had a few bad ones). But they all had to be trained to work on Ford products and yes I had my share of do it your selfers over the years. You Can't fix Stupid.
