Best LUBE for gear driven slide

The teeth on my gear driven slide are on a rail about 4-5' long. They are a tad rusty and dry. I hit them with some silicon spray but doubt this did much. What is the best way to lube those dry teeth? The ram that extends is on one side and has a cog with teeth to move over these teeth. What is the best lube?

DRY silicone. Won’t attract dirt and dust that act as abrasives.

I am not a fan of grease. Last set of carburetors I rebuilt, whoever had disassembled prior had greased each screw before assembly. It was hard and gritty and I had to run a tap through each thread. I saw a Keystone youtube video and the Keystone guy recommended:

CRC Power Lube Industrial High Performance Lubricant w/PTFE 03045 – 11 Wt Oz., High Performance Aerosol Lubricant

He applied to the same type slide system I have. I used PB Blaster silicon lube and it didn't do squat near as I could tell. I use it in my business sometimes along with regular PB Blaster which also isn't all that effective.

I use the dry silicone as well. I think any dry Lube would be fine since it won’t attract dirt/dust.

i just installed a new jet ski lift motor/ gear assembly yesterday…they put 16 lbs of marine grease on the gear teeth that is buried inside the assembly..took me two hours and a bushel basket of rags to feed the cable on the winch and secure the locking nut…would have been nice if they gave you a small tube of grease to put on the gears AFTER you assemble it

I bought a Smittybilt 8 ton winch for a Jeep once. Trying to reel the cable off was like trying to pull the Jeep by hand and used the winch to power reel it off. Took it apart and the gears were SO packed with grease the thing couldn't turn. Pulled all the grease out (seemed like a gallon) and worked like a charm. Yes, it would have been nice if they had just let the buyer lube it.

George I think any of those dry lubes would work. I've got the CRC, WD40 Specialist and I don't know how many others. Seems to me they all work about the same.

This is copied from the Lippert Master Owners Manual-Towable, page 343:

The Lippert Through Frame Slide-out System has been static tested to over 4,000 continuous cycles without any noticeable wear to rotating or sliding parts. It is recommended that when operating in harsh environments (road salt, ice build up, etc.) the moving parts be kept clean. They can be washed with mild soap and water. No grease or lubrication is necessary and in some situations may be detrimental to the environment and long term dependability of the system.
