Forum Search Logic
Is there a way in the forum Search function to search for an exact text phrase? This is very helpful in excluding posts that don't directly relate to the exact phrase you are looking for. I do not see a topic on this in the FAQ.
In many search schemes like google you do this by putting the exact text in quotes: e.g. "word 1 word2 word3 ...".
Other search engines allow you to do a logical AND e.g. Word1ANDWord2ANDWord3 with some special AND character like *.

Try this:
click on Search
click on ADVANCED SEARCH
in the upper right corner of the window, in the "search by keyword" box, type your "exact phrase" using quotation marks before and after the phrase.
That may get you what you want.

John,
Thanks. That kind of works. If put "domestic refrigerator" in the search and select "Show Posts" I get a mix of posts that have the exact text string and some that have either "refrigerator" or "domestic" in them. It does not appear to exclude all posts that don't have the exact text, but it does exclude a lot more than if I type in domestic refrigerator (without quotes). It is what it is.

The forum software is by vBulletin®. We don't use the latest version until it has been "tested and all the bugs worked out by other users"... Our current version is vBulletin® Version 3.8.9.
vBulletin® is, from what I can tell, the most popular software "forum platform". That said, it's not noted to be the most dynamic software when it comes to the search feature.
Some members have used Google search feature and then use their local computer software to search for "keystone" among the results. That "sort of" pares down the search results to this forum.
As a note, in your example, you said you did a search for "domestic refrigerator". One of the "pitfalls" is not using the correct terminology so you won't get the correct search results...
Were you looking for "Dometic refrigerator" or possibly "residential refrigerator" ???
I'm not suggesting you did make that kind of error, but it has happened a lot more than you might suspect.....

John,
Ok. Thanks! The results don't appear to be case sensitive Domestic vs domestic which is probably a good thing. At any rate I think I understand how it works now and it works "good nuff" for me :-)

I found it easier to search on google then then come in through the keystone forum link it provides.

I'm still not quite sure if the OP is searching for Dometic (brand name) or domestic (home style) and whether that is causing the search engines (from all software sites) the confusion.....

Realize this is not what you are asking, and you may have already done this, but I think searching the forum is best done via Google (or the search engine of your choice) by typing a few key words and then including 'keystone forum' in the search string.

A compelling argument to search through external search engine. Although the first few searches on the forum site return a few instances of "good nuff" and then "nuff" said and then "fair nuff" :-)

I've hear though that if you include the phrase "Key TV won't work' or 'Key TV sucks', internet service for the Northern hemisphere slows appreciably for several minutes.

The forum search is keyword only and not very excellent. As you have learned you can't use search qualifiers. Google works well
