Carbon Monoxide problem

My detector beeps every 35-40 seconds. Green light on. Does it need to be replaced or is there a solution? Vacumed vent. No help.

It could be low voltage/discharged battery or it could be the unit signaling its failure or expired monitor chip. Check the owner's manual for the meaning of the "beep every 35-40 seconds. You may also find the "signal information" printed on the faceplate of the CO monitor. Some have the "signal meaning" printed, some are only in the owner's manual.

Sounds like the low battery warning

Look up the model online and read what the various alarms/warnings mean. Some models are combo CO/Propane leak detectors.

The 9 volt battery style CO detector in our rig failed a little over two years after we purchased our rig and I just replaced it instead of messing with it. With all the detectors in these rigs, it is an unknown what chemicals and outgassing substances the sensors in these detectors are exposed to, and even though the paperwork says they are good for five or so years, they can fail much earlier. We full time and don't have the patience to play with things like this, especially when it is with safety items like these. Just get a new one and be done with it.

Have never had a CO/LP detector with 9 volt battery power, all have been hardwired to 12 volt rv system. Typically the beeping is as mentioned low battery or out of date detector.

That is true. Gas sensors are “sensitive” to certain contaminants.

Ours is strictly a CO detector and was original to our rig. It is powered by a 9 volt battery. There are 12 volt hardwired units also, in addition to combination units that have LP and CO detectors. Regardless of how they are powered, if the sensor or sensors go bad, there is nothing you can do to fix these except to junk them and install new ones. I have replaced the CO detector once, probably will be due for a new one soon, the smoke detector I replaced a couple years ago, installed one of those 10 year units that you just replace when they signal end of life, and the LP detector I just replaced in January while at Quartzsite, and this was the second replacement.
