Replacement Tires

I have 2012 cougar 328QBS 5th wheel bought new with about 7000 km on he tires. I heard the tires were cheap and experienced that first hand last week with a blow out. The tire basically turned to dust. I want to replace all of the tires and have read that the Goodyear marathons aren't good. I was told to go to a light truck tire. Any suggestions out there? The trailer has 235 80 16 now.

Try the search function on the forum or even go to the tires, tires, tires section. This has been discussed enough already to keep you reading for days.

The CDN regulations and industry standards mirror those of the USA. Here is a tire manufacturers' standards written for CDN owners. It’s a very good reference guide and easy to go from subject to subject.

I replaced the China bombs (16") with a set of Firestone Transforce HT LTs right off the lot when I bought it new. Haven't thought about my tires since (of course I visually inspect and make sure they are properly inflated).

G series tires may be a bit of "overkill" on a trailer with a GVW of 11,500 lbs. Given a pin weight of 2000 lbs, standard E series ST tires or LT tires would give a significant load capacity greater than the actual weight on the axles.

There is a "fine line" between having enough/too much tire and starting to induce other problems. In addition to the added cost of the tires, the potential problems of "overtiring" an RV can be a financial nightmare.
