Northeast Ram Rebate

Thanks to this forum, I've learned a lot about tow vehicles. So where we have plenty of payload and power with our 2020 Ram with Cummins we know that in the future we will end up with a 5th wheel, about the same size trailer...so will need payload.


This month the decision was made easy with a 15% rebate in the Northeast and with dealer discounting on the HD trucks it was 20% off the msrp. So not a bad deal. So picked up a new 2023 Ram 3500 with the same specs and traded in the 2500 for about what I could have sold it for (after new brakes and tires). Now shopping for steps so my wife can get in/out of it!

Congrats on that new truck it looks great! Sounds like you got a good deal too so can't beat that.

All kinds of steps for those trucks. You didn't say if it was 4x4 or not but doesn't make a lot of difference. I use the factory chrome tube steps with the plastic/vinyl inserts. I have gotten the full length (back to the rear wheel well) the last few times thinking I would use that extra length to access the bed....but I don't. I keep a BakFlip cover on the bed so it kind of negates the need for the extra length step. I spent some time in a truck that had the flat steps but seemed my foot was always slipping on it. The caveat to that is that my knees are so messed up my stepping geometry is very awkward. Good luck on finding the right setup....then start looking for that 5th wheel.

I would recommend my floorplan (about the same size) but looks like you have a bunkhouse. Remember too that you gain room with the 5th wheel. Overall lengths listed for TTs include the tongue length so you can take almost 4' off that for living area (I just measured the box). A 5th whee OAL is all living space. Our current 5th wheel is almost the exact same length as our last TT but has much more living space....and the height makes it feel so much larger. Good luck on that search too....it can be a lot of fun.

My neighbor has that color on his Ram HD. It looks spectacular after he performs his wash, spray wax and tire dressing every other week. Congrats!

Very nice truck. New toys are always fun. And this one is so practical for managing a nicer tow experience.

Our first trailer, over 40 years ago, was a travel trailer. Our 2nd was a 5th wheel...we've never looked back. One vs the other is subjective and everyone has their own reasons for which they prefer. For us it was a no-brainer. Much more stable towing, much more storage, and, as Danny said, more living space in the same footprint. No looking back for us...5er's all the way! A 35ish foot 5er would feel great on that new truck. Just pay attention to your payload weights which is always a variable.

Congrats on the new Ram, I just got mine at the end of September after being a long time Superduty owner . I really like my new Ram and glad I made the switch.
