So far I love my setup with the Pullrite 2600 and I can't wait to take a trip soon. We have a 2500 miles one way trip plan as soon as they start opening up the states.

Wow, I would think they are a bit tuffer than that! I have done this more than once on mine when not perfectly aligned when lowering. BUT I will look at mine, "Never Have" I will be a bit more careful about lowering if off center but to be honest I thought why it was designed that way!

just got mine

I just installed mine, haven't used it yet. How do you know if the ball is locked-in? Does the "pull" test work w/ this hitch?

I was going to get Pull-rite super slider. I went with Andersen since it was same price. Love how it pulled.

I was researching after seeing the crumpled photos. Seems the same 10 pics are what is circulating the web - involved in an accident. Maybe changing the ball to steel would be good? At any rate, I'm a mechanical engineer and not concerned. I don't know that I trust the 24k rating, but my Cougar is 1600# pin and 11,500 GVWR so we are well under.

CW installed chains. Your tailgate will fold like paper when that 5er hits it. I think you are wise to use chains, regardless of laws.
Changing the ball to steel? I hope it is made of steel.
The ball on my PullRite is welded to the steel adapter on the 5th pinbox. I didn't do a PMI on it but my $4 torpedo level sorta sticks to it. But it's an alloy as it hasn't rusted.
I assume the Andersen ball is a steel alloy, but I never looked at one that close.
You don't trust the engineers that rated the hitch at 24k?

The Andersen ball is in the truck, not on pin pox. It is solid aluminum alloy.

My pin box adapter is the female part - basically same as Pull-Rite, but ball in truck/coupler on pin box.

It’s been asked what damage did my sustain from the sliding hitch failure. The bed rail caps were replaced and a new tailgate was purchased and painted. Got off easy. The Pullrite was a total loss. The jaws and guide bearing were Ripped from the hitch. Note to self: route the emergency breakaway cable so it doesn’t snag on something during a sharp turn.

im little late on thread but i got an Anderson and love it , two things one buy the chains for it because in california ,Indiana and Texas those are requided.Like 60.00 bucks . And also check you reciever on 5th w, mine was got loose and had to retighten it . It only happened once , Allen wrench is all you need . Ifound out that if you line up real good with trailer the ball slides right in just takes a little practice. . BW turnover ball. installed it myself

I bought the Andersen because I have a 50 gal tank in the bed and and that helped compensate for the extra weight. 1.5 years and 12,000 miles and love it.

Anderson Hitch

I have a 2021 Keystone Avalanche 383FL and hitch weight of 2750 lbs. I was looking at the Anderson and found out that they are not compatable with the Trailair RotoFLex Pinbox. I purchased the Demco Recon Gooseneck to 5th wheel Hitch. Fits over gooseneck ball so I have a clean bed when I remove it. Works great. Heavier that the Anderson but well worth the look.

Yeah, in your case I think that getting the Demco gooseneck hitch will work best for you.

Do you have any pics of your setup, I know that you probably have put it in storage by now?
