Generator conversions

I have two 2000w portable generators that run on gasoline. I am looking at possibly converting them to propane. Does anyone have any experience with this type of conversion? Ease of conversion, change in noise level, exhaust fumes, use of propane, and any other information that would be useful? The kits I am looking at are ~$200 each. Is it worth that?

There's only a few things I can offer. LP fuel is more expensive per gallon than gasoline, not as readily available, and does jot have the btu per gallon that gasoline has. Whats that mean?

Well the output of the generator w ill drop so that 2,000 watt will not produce 2,000 watts. It will burn the fuel more rapidly and you may have to travel further to set the LP tank refilled.

And it is every bit as loud. Don't let anybody tell you differently. My opinion is stick with the gasoline.

Not concerned about noise, just the fumes. Around here, the wind changes directions every few minutes. Looking for cleaner air...

Interested as I've considered this. Local company fills my 120gal tank for me and more convenient than 5 gallons of fuel at a time

Propane gen conversion

Not to mention hauling gas in the back of the truck and not having enough gas to run a day. I had to refill my 2.5 gal can three times in four days one hot weekend. I have two 30 # propane tanks that I think would be enough for that type of use.

Our 3500 generator is dual fuel, but we only use propane. Love it, no mess, quick connect.

LPG is not as efficient as gasoline but it stores for a much longer time. The DW was not happy when I switched the backup gen to propane. She got used to getting my 30 gallon reserve every fall and alcohol free is hard to find when you need it. That woman is so damn proud that Jersey Girls Don't Pump Gas.
For me, fuel storage life was the biggest factor for going LPG. JM2¢, Hank

this is what I'm also toying with... up in PNW, we just had our last trip of the season, all winterized up now. I hope to get it back out soon as temps are mid 40's. thats typically just dripping rainy out side.
So the point being, our generators will sit for 4-5months idle. that fuel inside, well you all know. So stable propane source is good. Also we have a LP gas at the back of the trailer where the shore power plug is, very convenient. Unfortunately, the rear is also where the chairs are in our RL configuration. My thought if fuel capacity was an issue, was to increase the front propane tanks to bigger 7g units.

So many conversion kits out there, they all look very similar in the pics. If pulling the trigger, which type is the question.
