You're on the right path. Looks like you have an access panel in the front of that shower so you should be in a pretty good place. 4x4 is pretty large, hard and unforgiving. Maybe you could assess what you need under there, mill whatever dimension wood you need (maybe 2x4 sandwiched with pieces of 1/2" ply) and a thin layer of rubber/carpet square etc. attached to the top. I would round any lumber on all edges so there aren't any sharp edges to eventually break/crack the shower floor. We had to do that on the last trailer. I weighed 200 (down to 190 now yeah!) and it flexed more than I liked.
