Antenna Type - 2017 199ML

I've got a 2017 Passport Ultra Lite and I can't find any details on the antenna type that was installed at the factory. I was out a few weeks back and couldn't get any signal, but I was also pretty out there. Any ideas if they were installing HD antennas for this generation?

If your camper has the old-school batwing antenna on it, then you already have the best HD antenna you will ever have. Sure, they make round ones now that are omni-directional, and the bat wing you have to turn to face the television signal manually, but as far as receiving a signal, the old antennas work and work very well.

All this hype and Bull S*** about these HD antennas is really just that... It's all BS. You can stick a paper clip in the center hole where the coax cable plugs in, on your television and you'll get HD television... (really .... try it!) But, you may not get a billion different stations. There-in is probably the difference, it's the booster.

If you have a 2017 model, then no doubt is has an antenna booster. It will be a little on-on button you push where the coax cable attaches to the wall connection. When the booster is on, there should be a green light that comes on. But, if you have the bat wing antenna, you'll have to turn it to get the signal in for any specific television station.

There are two aps that are extremely helpful you have put on your phone. The first is, https://www.whatismyzip.com But, you have to have "location" turned on on your phone. You need the zip code for the next app: https://www.antennasdirect.com/transmitter-locator.html (Antenna's Direct). Punch in the zip code of your current location and you can bring up a map showing you which direction the television signals are coming from.

The next thing you need is a compass so you know which way is North. Now you know where to point the television with that old-school bat wing antenna.

Hope this all helps.
