Lippert Jacks

I recently purchased a 2017 Keystone Laredo 298SRL, 5th wheel. I have noticed the rear automatic jacks sit very low, when in the up position. The low clearance will greatly effect our boon-docking capabilities. I have noticed the low rear clearance is common. Does anyone hafe any advice as to how to correct this issue? Thank you everyone for reading and any advice or tips. Safe travels.

Hi there and welcome aboard!

The rear jacks on our Alpine seem to be a bit low to me, but so far no problems.

I once considered moving them up a notch or two, but there is limited room above the jacks to the floor, so I decided to leave things alone.

Just my .02.

Cheers!

If there is enough room to move them up a hole, you can. If the center legs aren’t adjustable, them you will probably need blocks under the tears or you’ll get an error when the rears run out of travel.

I talkked to lippert the other day about a different problem on our new camper and I asked about the placement of our jacks. He said you take a string and go from the bottom of the rear tire to the bottom of the bumper. As long as the jack is above the string when fully retracted that should be acceptable. If that is the case mine could come down about six inches. I will probably move mine down some but not quite that much.

Unfortunately there is probably no way to gain clearance. LCI makes shorter jacks but your trailer probably already has them, if the feet are not removable then they are the short jacks.

I have the same problem on my trailer, it has the short jacks and there is no room above the jacks to move them up on the brackets. The jacks are mounted directly behind the tires, I have not hit them on anything so far. On my trailer the spare tire hits before the jacks do.

I feel the same as the OP, they look like they could get hung up. That said, we've had no issues so far. We have managed to drag the spare tire mounted on the rear bumper but that was a pretty extreme driveway issue at a gas station on the res. Most times I can find an angle that will work for us.
