2017 Cougar 29res heat issue
I recently purchased this pre-owned unit, and turned the heat on for the first time today. I set the thermostat to 75 degrees, and I can hear the furnace fire so that’s not a problem. But the blower in the a/c unit comes on blowing air thru the roof vents. The registers in the floor barely have heat blowing out of them. Any ideas? I’m confused....

The thermostat fan switch must be in AUTO for the furnace fan to run without the air conditioner fan. If the thermostat fan switch is in HI or LO, both the furnace fan and the A/C fan will operate. The reason for that feature is to better distribute warm air throughout the trailer. The furnace fan is a "small DC motor" and doesn't move a lot of volume of heated air. Using the A/C fan, is, according to the designers, supposed to assist in distribution... I'll leave the "benefit or liability" to your own impressions.....

How do I get it into Auto? I see a mode button, which displays “furnace” and an A/C symbol with a snowflake.

Keep hitting the mode button; find the "off" mode, the next will be fan; it will be hi, lo or auto. Select auto by using the up/down arrows.

That worked! I set it to auto and the a/c doesn’t turn on anymore with the heat . Thanks so much for that info! The floor vent have heat coming out now, but doesn’t come out with very much force. Blower is working no problem. Is this normal? Is it because it is heating the underbelly as well?

The way I think of the furnace fan is that it's a small 12vdc squirrel cage that doesn't create much volume (cfm) compared to the 120vac A/C fan.

I get more heat or flow out of some vents then others. Bedroom and bath are weaker then the livingroom. I think this is normal like said above the fan in the furnace is not very powerful.

What's insane is that some rigs have four fan settings under heat: HI, LOW, OFF, and AUTO. Except that OFF means on, and AUTO means off. And that's not a wiring error, it's documented (and blamed on Dometic). See lower-left note under Heating.

The In-Command system is a "far cry" from the older Dometic analog or digital thermostats. I don't think I've ever seen an "older" Dometic thermostat with an "OFF" position on the fan controls.
