2005 Keystone Montana 3295RK

Can anyone help me with Furnace issues? I bought this RV in July 2019. I've tried to run the furnace but have to set the thermostat at least 9 to 11 degrees higher than the room temperature to get it to run. It has a handheld thermostat remote that controls the thermostat. This morning I had to turn off the furnace at the breaker box because it would not shut off.

Would a thermostat replacement solve this problem? It's an old system that I can't even find manuals for. Keystone is no help. Please advise. Thanks!!

A 2005 RV system would be significantly less "sophisticated" than today's systems. Typically, all that was installed in RV's during that time were mechanical (mercury bulb) wall mounted thermostats and few even controlled the air conditioner. Most A/C units in that era had "cover plate rotary temperature controls"...

You described a "remote hand held thermostat" that controls the furnace... I'm thinking this is an aftermarket adaption, not the factory provided components.

If you could post some photos of the thermostat and the remote, it might help with understanding what equipment you have and possibly help resolve the problems you're having.

Thermostat/Remote Control

JRTJH;

Thanks for responding! I'm going to try to attach the pictures. I appreciate any help you can give. Could I replace the thermostat with a household single stage one?

I have attached the pictures. Not sure how to paste in this response. Let me know if you can see them. If not, I'll try something else.

Finally! Someone with exactly same problem as I have. Same situation [sounds like], infared remote for heat/air conditioning control. I have had to replace the remote twice because of button failures. Need another[!] replacement and I cannot find one now. Last two times i found one at a local dealer, another online [ebay], but this time nothing showing up anywhere. Please let us [me] know if you get this worked out somehow? This site has been a tremendous help for various issues, and I so very much appreciate all the information offered here!

Elderhutch, I'm calling Keystone today and I'll let you know. This thing is a pain. The wall mounted whatever is blinking again today. I can't find a manual online at all.

The remote control thermostat was a horrible design. The referenced link to the 17 page discussion of it and the replacement parts are what you want to read.

Remote Control Thermostat

Actually I think it's the worst technology I've ever dealt with. I can't find a manual or anything to realize it's use or how it's programmed. I've yet to call Keystone or Dometic. I feel it's going to cost me in more ways than one. Thanks for responding! Merry Christmas!

I love the thermostat in my 03 LOL
It's old school so you have to get up to work it.I find remotes just one more thing to keep track of. It seems to be more work trying to find the remote than getting up to adjust the stat LOL.

First, give some details on your camper, year, make and model and which A/C and thermostat do you have? I have a 2002 Cougar 278. You might describe what the actual symptoms of the issue you are having. I will post a pic of my camper's thermostat. Good luck.
