I suppose the phrase 'Welcome to I-70, I-64, I-24 and I-40' would be apropos about now? I suppose one could take I75 south out of Louisville, also, but you're still stuck on the interstate system. Sorry I couldn't be more help in finding a route a little interesting.

I'd suggest that more about what you're trying to accomplish would help with recommendations for a route.

If you're "time pressed" and are looking for the "fastest route" or
If you're "wanting to take in the antique trail" or
If you're "wanting to see some of the distilleries" or
If you've got a month to make the trip and want to see some of the RV resorts or …..

So, what are your "requirements" or "limitations". ???

Keith, getting across MO and IL leaves you with 70 to the Lou and then 64/40 into IL. I would highly suggest planning on getting into and through St. Louis after 9am and before 3pm. Outside of those times is an indescribable NASCAR race start with too many mini vans. If you have questions about this let me know.

Drop down south and pick up hwy 60 eastbound. Get on Bluegrass Parkway and tour distilleries. I75 south to I40.
