Utah to Yosemite

Hello to all west coast travelers!
The wife and I will be retiring here shortly and are planning a cross country trip in July. We are using RV Trip Wizzard and it is very helpful for campgrounds and roads good for our tall 5th wheel.
I am a bit concerned with the elevation changes in the mountains to be sure we take a good route. For instance, when leaving Zion NP in Utah and heading to Yosemite in CA the software has us going I-15 to Las Vegas then Rt.95 north to Rt.6 west.
Instead is it better to go I-15 to Barstow then take Rt.395 north?
OR I-15 to Barstow then rt.58 to Bakersfield then Rt. 99 north?

Of course you may have an even better way?
We are not in a hurry and believe the truck will be fine, just concerned.

Lastly if there is an interesting something(s) to see on the way that is great and may help pick the way.

Thanks in advance for the ideas !

Do I-15 to Hwy 58 west to Bakersfield, then Hwy 99 through Fresno and up Hwy 41 to Yosemite. If you were to take Hwy 395 north, you will not be able to bring your fifth wheel into the park on Hwy 120, just too tight and many very tight turns. Even small motor homes and trailers have a difficult time with the east entrance to the park. You also may not want to actually enter the park with your rig and instead keep it outside. That time of the year, you will need to make reservations now, do not wait or you will not get even close to the park.

Yosemite has rv length and height restrictions on roads and through the Wawona Tunnel from the west. Since there are limited rv spots you might consider consider camping outside the park and drive your tow vehicle in for day trip(s).

If you travel north on Rt 395 consider camping at the base of 14505 ft Mt Whitney and visit the western film museum and/or hike from Whitney Portal at 8374 ft. And don't forget Bishop where you can hike from one of California's highest trailhead at 10,758 ft elevation to Bishop Pass at 11972 ft where the scenery is spectacular!!
