Water hose pass thru for city water

We have an Avalanche 313RS. We went camping over 4th of July, and just went this week. When we arrived at the campsite, there was mold and mildew between the 2 plastic screw in caps where the water hose passes through. Has anyone else experienced this with their Avalanche? If so, what have you done? Thanks!

I'm not any help. What is the material between those 2 caps? Mine has a stainless steel liner between the caps so I haven't seen that.

I would use some shower/tub cleaner thst kills mold. Clean the threads on the caps and the pass thru with a small brush (an old turhbrush or one from the Dollar store). You can wash the caps in the sink. Then keep a clean cotton or micto fiber rag to wipe down that area after each use. Mold thrives in moist, dark areas.

I have the exact same trailer, but I've never had mold or mildew in the hose port (or anywhere else for that matter) I do not close up the port if it has gotten wet and allow it to dry...

Thanks, we live in East Texas and it’s very humid here. Also, our rv is in a closed storage building, so don’t know if that makes a difference. I do have a dehumidifier inside the rv b/c of mold.

I'm in Waco... know exactly where Jacksonville is..
My storage is roofed but open front and rear for good airflow.. I leave the trailer roof vents open in storage and I've never had mold...

I can't tell what that material is but if it is some sort of "bare" material (I've seen those kind) then I would clean it all up really well, let it dry thoroughly and then coat that inner area with something that would seal it up and leave a nice, non porous, wipe off surface. After that I would do as Javi mentioned and leave those caps off if you have water in there (as I do as well). Let the air dry it out vs trapping it between caps.

We have the same covers on our trailer. Between the threads is exposed particle board. I used silicone calking to cover the bare wood and removed the gasket from the upper cap so that moisture wont get trapped between them.
