I looked at it as I drove from camping world, it is a big damn box....

its been a few years before I had something that size on the hook. Our last coach was a 29foot Prowler in the 90's. The boat is over a thou less, and the backhoe on the beavertail is heavier, but much shorter length and height!

But I used to drive truck way back so the old saying 'Old truckers never die, they just get a new Peterbuilt' applies I hope.

We just came from a class-c motorhome, took advantage of the covid sale price spike - dang thing sold literally in a few hours, and want to go back to a motorhome when we graduate (retire) towing 4 down.

We went to trailer this iteration LITERALLY due to enterprise rent a car....they held us hostage this summer, a rate 3x the previous time, and we could not have the car the last full day at the campground. when we didnt pay the extension fee from hades, on the last day they offered the car for less, but still high. I did not say unladylike words, but it changed our camper refresh from Class C to TT in a hurry.

We are using our show truck to yank it, so going in old school style.

when posting about a bullit...in the lightweight keystone section or the TT section?

Welcome, post in whatever forum you think works best for your topic. Take a sec and go to the UserCP and make a signature and save it with camper year, make and model and the same for your tow vehicle as some of the things you ask about will allow for more context in the answers if you provide this info. Good luck. BTW: My sis & BIL have a Class C and while it is adequate for camping, I feel cramped. Too little counter space, the TV up high on a wall over the kitchen sink, etc. They spent a bucket of money for it but then again. a suitable tow vehicle and with camper prices what they are, not much savings whichever way you go.

If we had a contest for worst fuel mileage, the story-tellers on this forum will start making up ridiculous numbers just like for the best mileage. My 460 cid F250 got 7-8 mpg towing and I have seen a bit worse. The 454 Chevy probably is right there as well. Hopefully the OP has a big gas tank! My F250 held about 38 gallons between two tanks but the fuel gauge was so inaccurate that I was often fuel shamed to put in 20 gallons thinking I was running dry. I miss that truck except for the rear drum brakes and rattling.

They had a class C with most likely the Ford V10 so his mileage may improve!

We've had 454, 455, 460 etc. engines, all with less than stellar fuel mileage (455s were in cars). I bought a new 1980 Ford F150 long bed 4x4 w/off road pkg. (first year as I recall) - double shocks in front, little lift etc. My buddy had a '78 Ford with a 460 at the time. I swear the 351W in my truck could drink gas gulp for gulp with that 460 when we headed out on a trip to the mountains, I couldn't believe it (his wasn't 4x4). One of the worst gas guzzlers I've ever had.

well 'winnie' was a 93....good old skool 460 EI and a E4OD....best I ever got was this year and last at 8.8 - I did a LOT of work on that motor as the PO had failures in the gizmos they let go. Then we sell it and unload it and I took about 1000lbs out of all the nooks...this was after we got home and clothes, food etc were out...we were ALWAYS overloaded! so the new trailer I literally am weighing everything in the door this weekend as we stock so I can get a feel for it.

The sub gets 12-12.5 all by her lonesome. 3spd T400. Unbreakable, but not thrifty. Im putting in a 4L80E, but not till AFTER next years big trip. It wont get me so much any more mileage, but rather lower the highway rpms. The Mark IVs are pretty resilient, but wanna take it easier.

I have the 40 gallon tank, this Bus is an oddity...one of 178 built in 1990 as a 1 ton....8600gvw (compared to 7500 for most R2500s), including emission rules AND has the full floater in back. I can actually run duallies if so inclined. (I aint....)

Tonight I move it from CW near apollo pa to the woods house near cook forest PA, up 66 over mahoning etc...we shall see how big of a straw she sucks thru...

There are a lot of variables to fuel milage, rear axle ratio, transmission, vehichle weight, tire size, wind resistance, and to great degree the weight of the driver's right foot. I will say this, after having a driver's liscence for 51 years (and driving a few more years than 51) I've never heard anyone brag about getting good fuel milage with a big block of any breed.

Maybe I've lead a sheltered life.

454 in 1988 34ft motorhome, 5 mph was a good day. 454 in 1997 8,000lb boat. 60 gals in 8 hours. 460 in 1996 f250 pulling that boat 6 mph was a good day.

Was curious if I could back this in the driveway. My old Prowler 29R was smaller and the old power pole was further away....It was dark, rainy, foggy (it was a dark and stormy night....)

but...

Old Truckers never die....they just get a new Peterbuilt....

Nice parking job!

We just picked up a 290BHS a year ago. I’m loving it.
The hidden pantry is awesome.
The ladder is “not so friendly” so I removed and built my own with flat steps and taller.
Adding a curtain let’s the bathroom be used by more at the same time.
Added the backup camera and love, love it.

hidden pantry for all the bourbon, potted meat and girl scout cookies? (from the video....)

My teenager who has claimed top bunk finds the ladder for the bed unusable so a small aluminum werner was procured the other day....
