It doesn't say one tank it say 60 gallons... That's TWO 30 gallon tanks

My Cougar Fifth Wheel as well as my previous Keystone trailer had two grey tanks - one for galley and one for bathroom sink & shower. Lucky I already knew about the two tanks but it's definitely something that should be covered in the dealer orientation - but often isn't.

I have a 2020 25RES and there are two 30 gal grey tanks on this model. Initially I had the same question as the dealer failed to show me the valve handle for the galley tank on the walk through. As Javi pointed out the specifications say 60 gal grey tank capacity but fail to mention that there are two tanks.

I have two tanks…the kitchen one doesn’t fill up as fast as the forward gray tank because of the showergoing into the forward tank
I bought a Valtera shutoff valve for my sewer outlet…I can leave this shut and open both gray tank valves….this will allow the gray tanks to equalize and give you the full 60 gallon capacity or close to it I believe

I have a 2019 Cougar 25res. I misread the specs and thought it had 1 60 gallon grey tank. The guy that took us through the PDI looked for a second dump line. He even looked all the way to the back bumper.
On our first camping trip, the grey tank for the shower dumped as soon as the cap was removed. After much searching, we found the valve for it under the slide. The previous owner had left it open.
Yup, that’s when we discovered we have 2 thirty gallon grey tanks.

Last camp trip while walking the lab, I talked to another Cougar owner of the same model I have but a 2007. We each mentioned things about the trailer. He said he only has 1 gray tank and knows since he has had the unit since new.
I thought that strange and walked around and pointed out the second gray tank valve. He said that's not a gray tank, it's the galley tank.
Yea he is right it is listed as galley on the control panel, but in the booklet part of that 60 gal gray water capacity. No wonder so many get confused.

I have a 2010 sab and all three valve handles are side by side near the sewer outlet. They must have figured out that they could save a buck on cable by mounting one somewhere else?

That's a 3rd party spec sheet where they've copied information on the trailer. Here is the Keystone spec;

https://www.keystonerv.com/product/c...oorplans/25RES

Note Keystone says nothing about ONE gray tank, only total gallons...which will be 2 tanks. The 3rd party site added the spec of ONE tank which totally skews what Keystone says.

RVUSA is a "RV sales website"...

We've long discussed the "honesty of salesmen"... That site is a prime example of "If his lips are moving....." Believe what you want, but IMHO, believing a salesman's spiel is an exercise in buying oceanfront property in Arizona.....

The "final answer" is easily found "UNDER THE RV".... count the tanks, not the salesman's promises.....

I have a 2021 25RES and we were told right away About it during the walkthrough. And the tech pointed out the sticker on the side skirt directly across the valve.

We also told to release it first because kitchen sink water is dirtier and shower tank last to help clean up the sewer hose.

It works all the time.

Having a proper PDI with a person who knows the unit, before you leave the lot is priceless.

I have two on my 2014 Cougar 337FLS and wish they had done something different. The kitchen/galley is underneath the kitchen slide out so if you don’t connect first you have to crawl under or bring the slide in. I had the idea to cut and put a 90 deg in and then reduced it to 1 1/2” and run it back and tie it into the other gray tank behind the axles. Turns out it would be a major modification to clear the axle.

Also having bad knees and ankles it’s really impossible to just bend down and reach underneath the edge of the fifth wheel to connect the sewer hoses. So I purchased several 90 and 45 deg 3” Valterra fittings. The rear one had just barely dragged a bit so we modified them to be a bit higher and closer to the edge. Have not used it since the change.

First photo is the rear one, the second is the front one.
