Mini propane guage

Found this little nugget at wally world today. Hopefully it works. Led to a question....if I have 6 14 oz propane tanks with a tiny bit in each, can they be combined into a single bottle? I'm more used to big propane tanks. I hate throwing away propane or running out in the middle of grilling. Want to upgrade to a Blackstone (Can't remember if 21" or 22").

You can refill (ilegally) the disposable LP tanks however there is no way to "combine nthe contents without a pump and I wouldn't do it if there was a pump available. For the cost of the throw away LP tanks I think it's foolish tovtry to "save" a little from each tank.

Marshall is right. It's not worth it to mess with the little LP bottles when they get low (to save it). I just use one until it quits and slap another one on. I carry about 8 usually in their own dedicated bag in their own little spot. I use them for my LP gas grill. I use a standard BBQ LP tank for the Blackstone. It uses a lot of fuel by the time you get all the things you want to do done....then cleanup of the flattop.

Nope, doesn't hurt to ask. My first response was a quick one (dog was demanding a golf cart ride pronto! ). Years ago we used those throw away bottles and I hated thowing them away. Ended up buying a little 5 lb refillable tank. A bit of an investment as the valveis a mojor part of the cost. Anyway, bought the hose to connect it (had a Coleman Roadtrip grill back then) and it paid for itself over a few years,

After making the change I had about 1/2 doz of those throw away tank with just a little remaining (I didn't like the idea of running out in the middle either) so I kept one as a back up and on the next camping trip I looked around for a family that was tent camping and using them. They were appreciative In taking them.

I bought an 11 pound tank for my grill and Blackstone, I've even used it for my turkey fryer / Shrimp boiling pot burner.

It'll last me several cook outs and is small and lightweight compared to even a 20 pound.
Best choice I've made in a good while.

Where the heck did you find that? Around here it's 14 oz, 20 lb, or 30 lb. I have an adapter for my little camping grill to use 1 of my 20 lb tanks but haven't yet because I have 6 of the little guys with a tiny bit in each. Side note...Looking hard at the 22" blackstone.

Camping World sells both 4.5 lb and 11 lb. LP tanks. I'm sure if you google it you can find other places on line.

I modified my grill with a quick connect adapter and use the camper gas system for it now.

I also put a quick connect adapter on the regulator from the grill and have a hose that will connect it to a 20LB tank.

The little green bottles are only used for the Coleman lanterns now.

I found this video on using the large (20 lb) tank to refill the single 1lb tank. Only a few mins long. Gonna try this and will let you know how it turns out. According to my gauge (which works well), I have 6 bottles that are all less than 1/4 full.

I refill my 1Lb bottles. There is a trick to doing it and the one I am using has been refilled at least a dozen times.

I refilled 5 1-lb bottles with the adapter from wally world and locking forceps. I actually over filled a couple and had to bleed off some propane. Left them outside for a couple of days before feeling good they wouldnt vent.

Had an idea...thinking about propane venting...throwing this out there in full realization someone may tell me how dumb it is. Ive heard it before, and will again most likely. However, I think it's better than putting them in pass through storage below our queen bed. Thats not the way i want to go. Any reason this wouldn't work? I will put bubble wrap between them before traveling.

That battery box is vented so I don't see any issues with that setup from what's visible from that picture.

My first small grill for camping took the 1 lb bottles, so bought the kit to refill them. Never could get it to work, then it was recalled due to safety concerns. I have two 20 lb tanks at home for the Weber, so just started to take the full spare on camping trips. Bought a new Pit Boss grill and a 22" Blackstone for the new Solitude and all of the necessary connections to use the 20 lb tank. Works great and no worries.

I bought a 5 lb tank on Amazon. Darn thing cost more than a 20 lb tank but it sure is a handy size.
