New rv order price increases

Just watched a video where Josh from Haylet rv said that any orders taken after today will not be locked in to a set price.
If you order it and agree on $60000 and put a deposit, after today,if the price goes up from the factory at all then you will have to pay the cost increase no matter what it is or how many times the price changes.
Also watched a video where they said they had fiberglass shortages and some luxury fifth wheels that normally have a fiberglass rear cap will be built with a traditional rear wall instead.
Crazy times

Just viewed that same video.... no more locked in deals... wonder if this is the way they are going to slow down the orders on new units to play catch up... seems like an opportune time impose this type of "No prices set in stone" deals.

Yep and make whatever they may have left on the lot move.. someone may be satisfied with whatever is available instead of ordering for different color cabinets or some other option

And I'll bet that there may be some people backing out of deals as time goes by... unless they are making them pay full cost up front for the unit prior to build.. Although that doesn't sound like an ethical way to go either.. I'll have to look into that situation...

The brick and mortar home business here is going through the same problem. Folks are seeing their new home contracts being cancelled due to the builders inability to finish construction for the terms outlined in the contract. In other words, the cost of building materials is going up faster than the home can be built. I can just imagine the problems manufacturers like Keystone are going through when they are buying raw materials as well as finished components months in advance of building and selling the final product.

The skeptic in me thinks it could also be like the auto dealers selling cars for above sticker prices because people are willing to pay it. Ive been to several dealers recently that told me sticker price or sticker plus $750-1500 for a car that was sitting on the lot right next to me
Why sell a fifth wheel for $60000 when in 3 months everyone may be ok with paying $65000
I realize there is a material shortage but didn’t someone say never let a crisis go to waste

I think folks will not be happy with the unstable pricing but will look toward the coming year with a potentially much worse economic outlook. What do you suppose interest on RV loans will be? Some will be willing to roll the dice on that new camper regardless.

I remember interest rates like that. Stagflation. Malaise. Peanuts and Billy Beer.

Only I bet this time, savers won't be seeing similar interest rates for their own accounts.

Mostly but every almost every dealer I see has a hodge podge of random trailers on the lot

When the flu caused a complete shutdown at the factories, inventories were disappearing quickly. When production restarted, factory deliveries were a bit spotty where I was due to dealerships grabbing anything and everything available. We had a transport driver tell us that CW was paying a premium to get their stuff ahead of the crowd.

The time to just sit back and wait has arrived.

The way people are purchasing TV's right now is crazy. It's like new home buying in 2004 & 2005. The manufacturers are turning out lower quality units with substandard materials and parts and making wholesale substitutions and sometimes deletions to the printed specs for the units they are selling. Dealers for the most have poor service and delivery either because they are too busy, too cheap to pay help or just can't find help at all.

Time to wait a year or two for a new unit or pick up a used one in a 12-24 months from some of these purchasers that are way over their heads on their purchases.

I think Winston Churchill said, "never squander chaos."

I think he meant exactly what you said.
