Home Delivery

Just wondering if anyone purchased using home delivery..I can’t see it being a good idea unless you live permanent one site. Camping world let’s you do everything thru the website and mail, including signing finance paperwork.

Fine print: must be within 50 miles for free, $2.25/mi after that. Not available in some states (mine) even though the CW in Vacaville shows it on units. Finance paperwork is mailed and must be returned within 24 hrs.

We did home delivery and it worked fine. As I was out of state, my DW did the PDI with her daughter and face timed me during it. I gave her a long list of things to check. DW signed all the paperwork (TT is in her name only right now) I had the TV so we had no way to tow it home, so the reason for home delivery 85 miles. Negotiated the extra distance for free with purchase.

Sounds like a good idea to me, especially for folks that don't have adequate tow vehicles or wanting to park the unit permanently.

Guess I am just a bit leary, we have had posts from members that have had a brand new unit delivered and some serious issues showed up as well. who is responsible for fixing them?

I'm going with Chuckster on this one. Most new RV's have a pretty good list of things to fix.. Who does it and how do you plan on getting it there. You gonna have the guy who hauled it there fix the fridge or your auto-level? Probably not.

I think the driver who brought the camper may not be a great fella to do a walk through with. If you find issues (imagine that?) and you will, how do they get documented and the selling dealership motivated to fix them. Best go to the dealer and comb through the new trailer and make them fix everything you find BEFORE you pull it towards home.

I wouldn’t do it...at the least they should have a representative from CW meet at the house at the time of delivery to go over any issues. The final contract should not be signed until there is a “we owe” sheet signed by everyone if there are any issues.

I've been around these things long enough to know that you can have two "IDENTICAL" trailers, sitting side by side on the dealer's lot and one will be "flawless" while the other is filled with issues that are easy to spot immediately upon walking in the door.

If given the chance to "deliver one of them" off the lot, where there's virtually NO CHANCE it will be refused, based on the expense of returning it, I'd suspect many dealerships would "opt to deliver the worst of the two" (knowing it won't come back and they likely will not have to lose money on low paying warranty work).....

You couldn't reduce the price (within logical values) enough to get me to "sign an agreement to buy a trailer sight unseen"....

Same with all these current web sites selling used cars! NO WAY. I'm buying a new car, let alone a used car, online sight unseen without kicking the tires, opening the hood & sitting in the seat.
With all issues that a RV COULD have it's going to come with "onsite warranty repairs by authorized technicians" in writing signed by everyone at the dealership including the janitor BEFORE it gets parked on my lot.

Trailer delivered? I have a hard time getting a bag of flat washers delivered without damage. No way. If no tv then go to the dealer, conduct a PDI, after the punch list is completed THEN have it delivered.

To be clear, we did the PDI at the dealer site BEFORE the TT was delivered.

I don't believe the whole "Free Delivery" is actually free. I think they include it in the price of the RV at some places. Compare the pricing from Camping World to another business.

The business I purchased mine from straight up admitted that they charge $3 per mile, minimum $75 charge; and either their employees deliver as part of their shift (if they have reason to go out your way), or they outsource the delivery service.

I'm having my TT delivered to me this weekend by an employee of their company, so I have some faith that he won't delivery a TT that's full of breaks or problems due to rough handling or whatnot. It's costing me $75.

Brando, I think most of us are curious how you handled your initial PDI. Thanks....

PDI? I'm new to the lingo but from reading this thread I assume it means walkthrough and inspection. I did all that before scheduling delivery. The guy there even showed me how to do a few things about the TT and was very good at answering all questions I had.
