Help! Broken Window

Took the RV to day to my daughters school for a transportation day. As i go to prep it i am opening the windows and the sliding panel on the large dinette window shattered. What a mess.

Questions:

- Has anyone had this happen?
- It is under warrenty but dealer can't get to it until mid july. I have a 2 week boondooking trip in mid june and need the air flow.
- does safelite fix this? Or is there an RV equivilant to Safelite?
- What do i do in the mean time to protect the window without using tape that would make a mess in the heat?

Any help would be great thanks.

My solution to this would be to head to a big box hardware store and buy a 3/16 piece of plexiglass, bring it home and trim it to size and run with it until you return from your trip. It doesn't have to fit perfectly, just good enough to get you by.

Well, sure, you might want to do what Frank suggests if you want to do it correctly. But this is RV'ing. Are we required to do things correctly the first time? Okay! Okay! Frank's idea is better than mine....

I read one time that if it doesn't involve duct tape, it's not fixin' it.

Good call I was thinking lexon which is better but same idea, readily available and you can drill and cut it with a skill saw.

We were on road trip, 1000 miles from home and lost the right side of the big window in the slide. No idea how, broke and gone at next stop... After dozens of calls, etc. we finally had a guy ask us. It is the black privacy glass, yes, it is rounded, yes, and is it tempered glass, yes... Go to dealer and get a new window, YES the whole huge slide window with two windows in it. It cannot be fixed any other way. After deductible, window was paid for, but was expensive!

If you bought the trailer new, get on the service department and tell them they need to fix ASAP, not put you on list, that is why you buy new from dealer! We are lucky to have great service at our dealership! Have fun...
