TT Cover Options

Howdy y’all!

Just purchased our Passport Elite 28BH (31ft) and now looking at options for covers to help protect her from mother nature’s fury.

Any ideas on brands and features to look for?
Thanks.

.

I can't seem to find them right now but there are a few threads on here saying don't use a trailer cover.

Holds in moisture.
Flaps in the wind and damages the trailer finish.
Snow melts and then the cover freezes to the trailer.

I had thought of getting a cover also but after weighing in on what was discussed on here I decided a good waxing would work better.

Just my two cents worth I would never use a cover. They do more damage then they do good. Again just my opinion.

Glad I asked. Didn’t think they would actually create a problem.
Pays to ask!

I’m checking into the metal carport style cover to park it under. One wide enough that I can still extend the side slide out.

Welcome from another N Texan! Spent lots of time in & around Aledo before retiring.
As to the cover, NO, I now you occasionally get some gusty winds in your area & that just beats the rv & tears up the cover. Not to mention touting it up & wrestling it to get it on, accident waiting to happen.
Spend the money on a good wax job annually before storing.

I'll chime in from W TX and say that I wouldn't recommend a cover either. Tried one on my Jeep here in W TX and I can say without a doubt it did far more damage to the paint and itself than it could have ever helped. You are susceptible to hail in your area so I think I would be looking into some sort of covered storage.

My brother bought a cover for their new TT they bought last spring. They live in a residential area, no big winds to speak of. He's using it this year and it will likely be the last year.
He's problem is the rain gutters. The cover fits tight/snug enough that he's afraid it will either break off a rain gutter or poke a hole in the cover.

+1

I had this one built.

Cedar 6X6 posts and 6X12 beams

2 months later we had a pretty good hail storm, that beat the aluminum roof up enough it had to be replaced.

Hail coming from the west took out a tail light and the spare tire cover, the rest of the camper was fine.

Cover

I keep mine covered, I live in a residential neighborhood not much wind. I would love a carport but not feasible. I cover mine because of the sun, the sun will fade and deteriorate decals. My neighbor also has large trees with little narrow leaves next to my driveway. The little leaves get into engine compartments of my cars. Mine was custom made by Cal-Mark rv covers so it fits well not cheap made from sunbrella fabric. I also cover my tow vehicle. If I got a new trailer I would cover it. That's my 2 cents.

A winter cover on a trailer is like covering your central air unit on your house...
Rain is a bit more wet than snow is, cold air can not hold moisture like warm air can, a cover isn't going to keep it any warmer, it's adding a human factor to a non-human piece of equipment....
