U-shaped dinette

Just wondering if anyone has come up with an idea how to secure the dinette
Table top when the dinette area is being used as a bed.

My father in-law slept the last weekend. Every morning when he got out of bed he fell to the floor because he would sit on the edge of the table top and the rear of the table would flip forwards creating a slide and he would slide to the floor. I need to find a way to hold down the rear of that table somehow.

We slide our L Shaped U-dinette corner cushions under it. Makes more room in the bed and supports the table. So far we have only had kids sleep there and they haven't experienced the slide effect yet. LOL

thats not a bad idea. ot may be a decent option for the kids when they sleep there but not for the in-laws.

I have used Barrel Bolts or Slide Bolts to keep them in place

We took two pieces of oak, put a hinge between them and cut it to fit in the spot for the table. This allied for a tighter fit. Thought about using Velcro to help hold that as well, but so far we have not needed it.

I used a piece of 1 1/2" PVC pipe. Works OK. It's not a tight fit. It's a lot better I would like to find a extra leg and cut it to fit. Think it would make it work better.

I never did this, but here's a suggestion.

Put two legs on the outer part of the table, attached to the bottom of the table with hinges. Legs would be just long enough to reach the floor when lowered, and table in bed position. Velcro to keep the legs in the up position when using as table. Let the legs down when using as a bed. ??
