What sites do you use to book campgrounds?

Hi Everyone,

I am new to RVing... I have a 24' Keystone Springfield. I like to camp preferably with hookups, but not necessary.... What I do NOT like is parking lot style "camping". Seems to me most of Good Sam is for all concrete type camping. But i could be wrong...

What sources do you use to find your campgrounds?

thanks!
George

State parks

We camp a LOT in the various state parks in the west. The online reservation systems for most of them are easy to negotiate. Quite a number of the parks have full hookups, or at least water and electric. You can check with campgroundreviews.com, too, once you have an area in mind. Just keep in mind that different people look at a park through different eyes.

http://www.campgroundreviews.com/ is a great website for deciphering which campground to use.

I mostly hit the state parks, I go to there web site then I look on google earth sati lite view and try and pick the most privet spot. This has always worked for me. I also do not like the parking lot style camping.

I did not know good sam had this feature, might take a look. Reserve America when I am tenting with the scouts. For the most part I look at websites online and then make a call directly to make the reservation, I feel you get a better location if you talk to the staff about what you like and want. I use individual campground sites to check availability if they have the option or just send an email to find out. Most camapgrounds love to hear from you.

We have also used the sites that others have listed but most of the time will just google campgrounds for the area we are looking to stay and then book directly with the campgrounds.

We also use the above sites. We have booked mostly State parks in FL and even though ReserveAmerica has photos, we sometimes find http://www.campsitephotos.com helps as well. The internet is invaluable!

This is our first real snowbird season and online we've reserved one week stays at Myrtle Beach, Fort deSoto, Long Key, Jonathan Dickinson, St. Augustine, Panama City - two weeks at Sebastion Inlet - three in the Bradenton area (split between Lake Manatee and Manatee River and a month at Williston Crossing. We're moving around quite a bit but as newbies that's fine with us.

I am mostly a state park/NFS camper and use ReserveAmerica.com and Recreation.gov because that's the sites those CG's use. I will use whatever system the CG of choice uses and research the CG from all available internet sources.
