Help With Towing

I have GMC 2007 LWB SRW 3500 Duramax 6.6L
GVWR 9900lbs
FRT GAWR 4800 lbs
Rear GAWR 6500 lbs

Vehicle EmptyNet 7766lbs
Front 4444 lbs
Rear 3322 lbs

I want to purchase a Cougar 330 RBK
Dry 10035 lbs
Hitch 1865 lbs
Cargo 2230 lbs

This is my first trailer Cruiser 30QB. This trailer pulled like it wasn't there.
Dry Weight: 8035
GVWR: 12000
Carrying Capacity: 3436
Hitch Weight: 1840
Axle Weight: 6195
Exterior Length 34' 3"
Exterior Height: 12' 4"

and my second trailer Sierra Select 32QBBS
Not much different than 1st trailer but did not tow as easy as I thought. ALso had a very flat front cap.
Dry Weight 8850lbs
GVWR 13896lbs
Cargo Capacity N/A
Hitch Weight 1896lbs
Axle Weight N/A
Exterior Height 13.00'
Exterior Length 36.92'

Now thinking of Cougar 330 RBK
Shipping Weight 10035
Carrying Capacity 2230
Hitch 1865
Length 37' 4"
Height 12' 10"

2 questions.
Will I exceed my max hitch weight rating of my truck? I think it is rated for 2500lbs

Also do you think this will pull ok, hitch weight the same, dry weight is heavier?

Thanks

I cannot think that truck would have any problems, I think you should recheck the hitch, it should be rated at 10,000lbs or more. The Truck has a Combined Gross Vehicle Weight Rating that you did not list. My truck CGVWR is 20,000lbs. I have had my CGVW around 16000lbs for years and pulls the hills (6%) at highway speeds (50 to 60mph). I checked the rear axle wt. at 7400 to 7600lb, at those wt.s I put 80 psi in the tires.

What do mean with I think you should recheck the hitch, it should be rated at 10,000lbs or more

Max trailer weight is 14,700 lbs while gross combined is 22,000lbs

Ken, he's talking fifth wheelers here and when he says hitch, he really means pin weight. (Took me a second read to catch that, too. )

Disregard everything I said. I had no idea your questions were about a 5er and pin wt. I thought you where talking about a travel trailer and it's hitch wt. etc.

Lets put the numbers together:
RV dry - 10035
RV Cargo - 2230
Gross = 12265
Pin = 20% of gross = 2453 pin loaded
TV unloaded - 7766
TV plus pin = 10219
which does put you over your TVs GVWR and if the TVs cargo is only 2500, you'll be over there also. That's some of the problem with the SRW 3500s, they aren't really much better than the 2500, plus the older generation GMs are rated a lot less than the newer GMs. As for pulling it, you'll have no problems. I pulled a heavier Montana with a 2005 3500, but it was a Dually. You are the only one that can make the final decision, I used max numbers, but from what I've seen with our own units it's very easy to exceed those max numbers.

2500 lb hitch max wgt on a 1 ton GMC sounds really low. On the newer ones payload max is over 4000 lbs.

He's got an SRW. Payload becomes a nearly pure function of axle and tire ratings. He'd need a DRW to achieve a rating north of 4K.
