Camping in the rain

I just got back from a great camping trip in Payson Az but we encountered a nasty storm. We hid out most of the time under my trailer's awning and just watched the storm which was cool but at one point the water started to flow so bad under the awning we had to go inside. I learned the lesson that I need to stage my trailer on a elevated spot but I was wondering if you guys know of products or tricks that can prevent the mud?

I bring 2 half sheets of scrap plywood and place them under the patio rug. Just have to rinse them off before packing up.

After living with the rain in the Pac NW I've found the best thing to do is simply take your shoes off before going in the trailer. We've tried so many different ways of preventing the mud - tarps, rugs, wood, etc. - and there just seems to be no preventing it. I'm just thankful we don't have that nasty Georgia red clay here because that stuff doesn't come out anything!

Wow, do you have shoes for your dogs, too, that you can take off?

We have three dogs, and they are the most disastrous source of dirt, grime, and mud that ever enter the RV. Thank God for outdoor showers! And power rug steam cleaners when we get home.

Unfortunately, mud and rain is a fact of life in camping. We just take our shoes off before going into the trailer. At one site where we were camping for a couple months we just put a bucket of water at the door and stuck the dogs feet in the water and then wiped them off with a rag--he wasn't thrilled with the procedure but we just had too much rain.

That is why I love the 2 decks with the patio kits and awnings ,the dogs can still be outside and not make a mess going in and out

I always have a shovel in the back of the truck. If it rains so hard that i get standing water I'll trench it away from camp. Usually towards a friend in the next camp over

Pismo Beach! Clam Capital of the World. I used to live there, 1962-1966, when it was still a quiet little surfing town, without all the condos. Lots of great memories. My dad was raised there in the 30's and 40's. His family owned a motel. While in HS, he ran the projector at the Pismo Theater. He also apprenticed at a radio/tv repair shop.

I also have a few pieces of plywood saved for reasons like this. For mud on you shoes, I have kind of a shoe rack that I leave outside so the shoes can actually attempt to dry and not stay in the mud when you take your shoes off before you get in. Once they're dry, you can just bang the mud off.

We were window shopping around at toy haulers this week. It is nice to see that Keystone has come out with the Chrome. Looks a bit more Montana eee and homey. We really like the "deck" appeal of the toy hauler. We are thinking about getting a toy hauler next time around if they can lux em up a bit more.
