Wiring issue

I have an issue with the wiring my auto level sends error and slow when in operation I found a black wire connected to the positive side of battery this is a 2021 331rl the keystone wiring diagram says black wire goes to ground. Does anyone know if I should connect this to the frame ground it’s a 8 gauge wire I can’t fined out what the wire goes to. I ohm out to ground does not zero out. When I check from wire to positive I get 5 to 7 volts when I check wire to ground I have zero volts does anyone have a suggestion to where the black wire goes to positive or negative

Before you start "rewiring" the trailer or moving wires, I'd get a little more information. So this is a 2021 Montana 331RL, correct. How many batteries? Are the batteries fully charged? Have they ever been totally discharged?

Your auto-level (type?) is going to be very voltage sensitive and will required near to fully charged batteries to operate properly. So I'd start there...

Best to operate slides when connected to truck, shore power or generator, they pull a lot amps & weak or low batteries will operate slowly.
Before rewiring a new rv I'd do some serious research 1st before you void the warranty or burn something up. Rv manufacturers don't necessarily follow the same wire code as autos where red is + & black is -, I've seen they wire like a house where white is - & black is + so check carefully before you proceed.

In the RV world, black is often positive and white is ground. I’ve seen red for positive and black for ground. As stated DONT move any wiring until you know which is which.

Again as stated more information is needed.

I am assuming this is a new 331RL? I have the same unit. Consider you may have something serious wrong or nothing. Whatever it is will be covered by warranty. The first wire you remove and "reconnect" somewhere else just voided that warranty so I'd be VERY cautious about just jumping in haphazardly guessing what you are doing.

As far as "slow" in operation, define "slow" because they ARE slow; hooked up to power or not. The error message can appear for any number of reasons....generally operator malfunction. What error message? What are you trying to do when it errors? The sequence of your actions? LOTS of information needed to try to assess what is happening but I would start by determining if I was the problem if it were me.

Thanks to all that replied to my issue. I just happened to be 30 minutes away from a dealership luckily. I talked with them and they advised me it was probably a problem with the converter. They told me to give them the model number on the converter and said if I wanted to I could remove it and they would check it at no charge. I was worried about the warranty and they assured me it wouldn’t effect it. I took it to them and they said it had a short to ground. They gave me a new converter and I installed it. So far so good, batteries seem to be charging, I’ll see tomorrow if still holding charge and try auto level again. I was stumped and voltage issues will make you scratch your head. Thanks again to all who replied. I’ll keep posted if still having issues.
