This will probably not answer your question, but will hopefully give you some insight. I got the second Dometic A/C factory installed. It is "Zone 2" on the thermostat. It does connect to the ceiling duct work, though one can easily disconnect it by moving a slide knob to dump cold air into the bedroom. It does contain a relay which connects to the rear heat pump a/c unit. And in my case, it connects to the Onan Energy Command 30 and shares that control through the relay to the back unit. When my unit was delivered, the dealer found that both the rear and forward units were both connected to the same side of the breaker box. The dealer moved the bedroom a/c to the other side of the breaker box so both units would not be on the same power leg.
I hope this will give you at least something to think about.
