Goodyear Endurance

I just had a new set of 205/75R14 Goodyear Endurance tires mounted on my Hideout 175LHS. I took the rims over, had them mounted and brought them home and put them on. I noticed how much weight they put on for balancing. On the one they have 2-3" weights and the other they put 1-4" weight. Are these tires that far out of balance that they need that much weight? In all the years of getting tires mounted, I have never had to have that much weight put on to get tires balanced. Then I was pulling the trailer out of the building and had the 4" weight fall off the rim. Glad I wasn't driving down the interstate and had one come off at 70 mph. Has anyone else had these Endurance tire mounted, and how much weight did it take to get yours balanced? I was just wondering if I got bad pair of tires.

Do you have steel or aluminum rims? It may not be the tires, but the wheels.

Almost all wheels on RV trailers need to be balanced using a lug centric adapter. Did your tire tech do that?

Steel rims, but the other tires had nowhere near that much weight.

I don't know what that is, so I don't know if they did that or not.

Well, I looked it up, and I don't know if that's how they balanced them or not. You can bet that's how they will rebalance them when I take them back.

Depending on where you had them balanced they may not have the adapter to balance them lug centric. I would call them and ask before going back. If they don't, ask for a refund on the balancing and start asking shops nearby if they do.

Had a similar issue with a set of B.F. Goodrich All Terrain tires. The tire service guy broke the bead and then rotated the tire's position on the rim 180*. Solved the problem of having to use huge weights.

Do ST tires come with the positions dot on them like vehicle tires ? That might be your problem if they did not position the tire on the rim properly.

Have a look and see.

Well, I took them back over and he told me they have the adapter, but they usually use the center hub. I told him, on mine use the adapter, because there is no center hub lip for the rim to slid over. Also told him to make sure the weights are secured good.

Yes the tires should have reference dots on the sidewalls. Yellow and red or sometimes white and red or just one.. yellow is higher priority then others. Dot should be at the valve stem of a correctly installed and balanced tire.

Not all tire manufacturers mark their tires with "balancing dots". When they do, they may differ from another manufacturer's color and usage.

When they are on the tire there should be information about them in the tire's warranty booklet.

Personally I wouldn’t buy a tire that doesn’t have balance marks .... without it you are in the blind regarding hi/low point and also radial runout point.

Every tire I have on my truck, Jeep, 5er, and two motorcycles has these marks
