Low point drain help
At the risk of sounding like a complete newby, how do I drain my fresh water tank? On my Alpine I have a blue and red valve in My plumbing compartment that I always assumed were my tank drains (red hot/blue cold). Don't see any other drains. Never had to winterize or drain tank before. Filled tank as part of sanitization, ran all faucets and let sit over night. Go out this morning and open my blue and red valves and they sputter a little water and stop. Freshwater tank is full. What am missing?
I need to get the chlorine water out to finish sanitization process. I know I can pump it into my grey tank through the sinks, but I hate to run my pump that long. Help?

Look further under the trailer. There is a fresh water drain there somewhere. Ours is back close to where we fill the fresh tank. It's a 1/2 inch pipe with a threaded cap (white) like the low point drains. Takes forever to drain. Wished they would have used a real dump valve like our other TT

Should be a capped line under the camper in the area of the water tank.

As stated above, a search should reveal a total of 3 drains. Two are for the fresh water system and the other is for the fresh water tank.

our water tank and low point drains are under the trailer and not in a compartment like you have on your trailer. The valves you opened are just the low point drains of your entire water system. As others have said, look under the trailer if you do not have a valve in the compartment. Should be either a knob to twist or a cap to unscrew.

It's just a passive, gravity drain so it should be in close proximity to the fresh water tank and under it somewhere.

Mine is behind my passenger/curbside tire. It's white with a T-handle. Yours may be different but take a look to be sure.

I have a 2016 Alpine, and it's on the driver's side under the trailer, next to the spare. Very small white ball valve. Takes forever to drain, unlike my old TT that had a small blade valve.

As a side note, you will probably want to drain the hot water tank too in order to get all the chlorine out (unless you used the bypass when you filled the FW tank with the chlorinated water).

I have the 3010RE. From rear of fifth wheel look underneath on drivers side. There is a white ball valve just about where the spare is mounted.. 1/2 turn to drain.
Also you have 4 low point drains. Two are located underneath the boarding step area about a foot or so further in.. you will have to crawl under to get to them. These are your island sink low point drains.
Also inside your water door compartment is two more low point drains. And as the other guy said pull out the anode and drain and flush hot water heater.

I have a 2015 3010RE. I've found the FWT drain near the spare tire as you describe (thanks!) but can only find the hot/cold low point valves inside the door where the misc connections are. I don't see anything under the boarding step area... My FWT valve is different too - maybe different stuff on different years?

Mine does too - but all I see is the underbelly stuff.... Hmmm - I'll look again tomorrow. It's more curiosity than need - I run antifreeze through the system (all lines/faucets including outside and toilet and shower) when winterizing. The FWT drain location was a big help though - thanks!

My Cougar also has an island sink, and a W/D connection, but the only low point drains are at the water heater... forward and on the far side from island.

It would just be sweet if all were configured the same so folks could have it easier. It’s just like the electrical wiring on them... none are they same and you just about can’t get a diagram showing how your rig is wired.

The plastics drain plug on my water heater was already distorted from installation, so I had to use vice grips, and that required removing a large metal baffle for access. According to the manual, it leaves about 2 quarts after draining, but should not cause problems if it freezes. My fresh water tank drain is on the driver side, between the wheels and the rear bumper. Easy to access, but only about 1/4” pipe so really slow to drain. I used air to blow out water then about 2-1/2 gallons antifreeze, the whole wintering job took about an hour. For my water heater bypass valve I had to remove 4 screws on a wood panel below the stereo. Now we have about and inch of snow and still falling, 28F.
