Again, a lot of information to answer your questions.

Once you read those threads, judge for yourself whether you want to purchase tires with a questionable quality or whether you want to "upgrade" to a better, more reliable tire. The choice is entirely up to you. Some people never give their tires a thought, many of them never have a problem, but on heavier trailers, many have experienced extensive damage to their trailer when using Trailer King Tires.

Again, take a look at the available information and make your own assessment of whether they are the "tire for you".....

Thanks for the quick reply. I am already deep into those two searches. Although I only have a lightweight trailer, I do not like gambling with tires.

I will do some more reading but I think I am sufficiently scared to replace the year old TK's on my 1800RB. Trailer is safely sitting in my driveway for the winter.

Just went and looked at the tires, ST 225 / 75R15, 2 ply + 2 ply on the treads with a 2 ply sidewall . . . . . sheesh !

This is great forum for one such as me, back into trailers after 30 years.

On that size of RV you might consider a LT tire also just as long as the weight rating is the same or higher.

Here is the cliff notes. They suck. Yes they are round and hold air. Well, kinda. That is as good as it gets. I call them maypops. They may pop at any time. Replacing them is considered as important as breathing.

Not necessarily, but most RV'ers with heavier rigs have had better performance/results with LT's than with the ST's. I suspect CWtheman will jump in here shortly and tell you "the rest of the story" He is kind of our resident top dog on tires. (He also makes the same big money as the moderators) But mainly you need to get your China-bombs off the trailer at your earliest convenience.

Sorry for hijacking this thread.

Since my original questions I have looked through all the tire threads I could find here and over at the Forest River Forum. The only thing my Trailer Kings are going to do is keep my rims off the driveway for the next 5 months.

Here is the tire I want to install in the spring. Goodyear Endurance ST224/75R15 - 117N.
Max load 2833 lbs, max PSI 80 and N speed rating.

I believe the LT vs ST tire arguments (it often quickly leaves the discussion stage) is a mute point for the OP. His Bullet 1800RB tires are ST225/75R15D. There are no LT tires manufactured in that size any longer (at least none that I can find), so he is, for the most part, going to have to install ST tires on his trailer. It's clear for most of us, that he needs to replace them before his next trip (age plus unknown condition of "used trailer tires"). Being in Canada, I can't say whether WalMart has the same pricing on Carlisle ST tires as the business offers to US customers, but for the price of $67 for a ST225/75R15 LRE tire, he will find it very difficult to get a better tire for a cheaper price.

Considering the Goodyear Duratrac 15" "LT" tire rating of 1980 pounds at 50 PSI (LRC and there is no LRD or LRE availability) and the Maxxix/Carlisle ST tire rating of 2830 pounds at 80 PSI, it's fairly clear that LT tires won't offer the same load carrying capacity compared to current ST offerings.

I can't find a LT225/75R15 LRE tire on the market, although there are a number of "P" series truck tires, but none of them have a load capacity greater than 1874 pounds at 41 PSI (typical "P" series limits).

I will never buy another China bomb, Malaysia bomb, Philippine bomb etc. I've had great service so far on my GY Endurance. Made in the USA.

The Goodyear Endurance was introduced earlier this year. There is extremely limited data to support the long term reliability of the tire. If it goes the way of the Marathon, then "heaven help us all" but, on the other hand, if it goes the way of the G614 RST, then it will likely turn out to be an excellent tire.

I support your "buy American" and feel the same way about most products, but right now, the Goodyear Endurance line of tires has a "9 month history" upon which to rely. For me, that's not enough "reliability" to support spending the additional $150-200 for a set over the price of comparable Maxxis or Carlisle tires, both of which have a proven track record.

In a couple of years, after the "real world use data" is available, I may also "shout the praises for Endurance tires" but right now, they're the "new kid on the block with no history of performance or reliability. Hopefully that will change in a couple years......

Yes, it "should" be better than Trailer King. The jury is still out, and unless unforeseen problems occur, it likely will be better. My only question would be "Why pay $138 a tire for a "should be" when you can buy a known good tire of the same size, load capacity and warranty for $67 ?"

We here in Canada are at a great disadvantage when it comes to price on EVERYTHING !

Carlisle ST225/75R15 E/10P $151.47 CAD or $119.45 USD.
Max load 2040 lbs, max PSI 65 and M speed rating.

Goodyear Endurance ST225/75R15 - 117N $155.50 CAD or $122.62 USD.
Max load 2833 lbs, max PSI 80 and N speed rating.

The stated stats on the Endurance are better than the Carlisle. But I do see your point regarding lack of data and being a new product.

I don't know where you got your specs on that Carlisle tire, but it's NOT a 225 75R15 LRE. Apparently, based on the weight/PSI rating, it's a 205 75R14 LRD tire.

You can go to the Carlisle website and get the "real specs" for the tires here: https://www.carlislebrandtires.com/o...adial-trail-hd

As you'll notice, ALL ST tires (regardless of brand) are rated by size and all of them have the same specs. Every 225 75R15 LRE tire will have a weight rating of 2830 @ 80PSI. Where they will differ is the speed rating. Carlisle Radial Trail ST tires are speed rated at 81MPH. Nobody (and I honestly mean NOBODY) needs to be towing a travel trailer that fast !!!!! Granted the Endurance is speed rated "N" (87MPH) but.....

I'd urge you to verify the data you posted with regards to the Carlisle tire. It's incorrect for the comparable size comparison.

The internet failed me, here are the correct numbers. And again I apologize for the hijack of this thread. It is just so interesting seeing all of the knowledge being given here.

The only thing I go 81 MPH on is my Goldwing !

I bought my Endurance 205 75 14 D tires at DT for 88 bucks each after the rebate, which is the same as Wally sells the Carlisle for now. I did buy a 60 dollar warranty as always, especially because as you point out, they are a new tire. Even without a rebate I would have went with the Endurance because it's made in the U.S.. The only trailer tire made in the USA! The Marathons, aren't made in the USA which is like night and day.
